Do you have a private lawyer? Think they may think that changing to a private lawyer will get them a hearing which shouldn’t be the case.
Bro! you know nothing you just like to mislead people, this is from IRCC for a protected person in Canada (PR applications) and has nothing to do with refugee claimant decisions since IRB is the agency responsible for all the refugee claimant decisions, not IRCC

Feb 2017!! That's a long time brother, There is definitely a mistake going on, the more idle you are the more IRB will keep making you wait. I would fax in a letter now and then, 2.5 years isn't normal even by IRB standards, not even the US!! sometimes haha. I wouldn't keep waiting any longer, unless you are fine with it
Honestly, Samer is there anything about your case that we do not know?
does it have an integrity problem or was rejected or anything else?
Honestly, I do not think a normal case takes that long time.
Even my very unlucky friends got acceptance after 18 months.
IRCC is the umbrella organization under which IRB falls. Think you need to read the posting again it says that “starting July 31, you’ll see a progress bar for your In-Canada protected persons and Convention refugees application. The progress bar shows the time elapsed since we received your application and will give you an estimated completion date”. The progress bar will appear for multiple part of the asylum seeking process.

Samer likely entered in the first 6 months of the influx of asylum seekers. In attempts to process things faster new systems were set in place. The people who were being processed through the old systems were likely left going through the old system. This is exactly what happened for the legacy cases.

IRB is an independent administrative tribunal that is responsible for making well-founded and fair decisions on immigration and refugee matters, efficiently and in accordance with the law. Established by an Act of Parliament, the IRB decides on refugee applications made by individuals who land in Canada and make an asylum claim to be in need of protection.
The IRB throws files in a huge inventory, there's no way that online system is for claimants. Once you are done with the IRB, everything is smooth sailing afterwards and more trackable/fair/timelines

And I've done everything would come to top your mind.
Nothing at all since postponing letter and for your info, I have several other guys messaged me privately, all of them are over 2 years. However, I'm still having the longer one.
The question was actually directed to @Majidksa2013 who answered. But as I pointed out to others wishing to switch lawyers, switching to a private lawyer won’t help you get a faster hearing date.
Unfortunately nobody ever promised that cases would be processed in order. I do understand that it is very frustrating. It seems like the system was overwhelmed and in an attempt to try and improve the system files got left behind in the old process because they had already started to be processed this way. The legacy files from 2012 have almost all been resolved so they have definitely been waiting the longest. While waiting Canada does provide work permits, healthcare, welfare, shelter for many, language courses, etc. This would not be the case in many other countries. Although I am sure it is frustrating to wait there is a lot of opportunity to get a job, integrate, learn English/French, etc.
