I’ve been in Canada since August 27, 2017. Our initial hearing date was October 27,2017 and then we got a letter saying it was postponed. It’s now May 14, 2019, and we still got nothing. We tried calling and asking and they told us nothing was wrong with our papers or application or anything like that. I know people who came to Canada later than me and my family did, and have already been accepted, and I have no clue why it’s taking our case so long. So in 4 months and 2 weeks, it would be 2 years.

I've exceeded the 2 years a long time ago, no rules here, it's all about luck...so good luck.
Like the legacy cases from 2012 the switch to a new system has created legacy applicants again. The people who keep asking about their applications from 2019 have no idea how lucky they are since they will likely hear something between 6-12 months. CIC should really explain that being selected as a not complex case is just being sorted into a pile. Processing hasn't;t started yet and it could be many months.
Think this has more to do with the reorganization of how they process asylum seekers. Will still be hard to get asylum from safe countries.
Agree with you , but what I meant from claiming perspective. They need to work hard to prove they deserve the protection.

A question from a refugee woman she lives near me She and her 3 sons applied here in 2018 March ... one of her son is now 21 yr old and he wants to withdraw his asylum so she is asking if the son withdraw do she also get deported with him (not her only one son is willing to withdraw) she is really worried about it because she is the head claimant..
Her country of origin is Pakistan

Why her son wanted to withdraw his case, does he want to go back?
I don't know what is their claim is about but if he is connected from her story and he willing to go back to Pakistan then yes her case will become weak but I don't think so she will get deported with him but she will have hard time to prove why her life is still in danger.

Hello, has anyone from November 2018 received a hearing yet? I know some that applied in December, and received decision letters. I'm from an expedited country, but it doesn't seem to be expedited. Haven't received any letter acknowledging i'm from an expedited country, which worries me.
Does anyone have an idea of how hearings are scheduled? For example there's around 70,000 cases, does that mean one has to wait his/her turn until one by one cases are cleared on a 'queue' basis? Because this doesn't seem to be the case, I feel the IRB's scheduling system is very messy, and hearings are scheduled not according to a protocol, and it's rather random. Sometimes people arriving after other individuals are processed and scheduled sooner, there's no issue with their files either. Background/medical are complete and the file just sits there.
