Hi all,

I finished my undergraduate studies in Canada and obtained a 3-year post-graduation work permit. But I am a graduate student in the US now. In fact, I left Canada before my post-graduation work permit was approved, and asked a friend to bring it to me later on.

I am open to the possibility of seeking employment in Canada after my graduate studies in the US, so I want to apply for a work visa using my post-graduation work permit. But I am afraid that my work visa will not be approved as I am studying in the US now. Will my Post Graduation Work Permit still be useful, or do I have to use a usual traveller's visa to enter Canada from now on? Thanks.

But if you have a valid work permit; you won't need to show a Canadian Visa when you are crossing the border from US to enter Canada. The WP will let you in.

If you flying from a different country to enter Canada, you will require the visa.

I'm not too sure how you handle your case of applying for a working visa in Canada since you are in US.

This is true! You just have to show your WP in order to cross the border from U.S (by land) then you can seek for employment and work until your WP expires once you get into Canadian land.

This exemption only guaranteed at land borders
