Did any of post-doctoral fellows that created Express Entry profile actually received an invitation to apply for PR?
I am working as a post-doc in Canada. After creating EE profile, I received a message that I have to register with JobBank. it is ridiculous because I already have job.
I am very interested to apply for PR, because I am forced to work more than 70 hours per week and actually I have started to die, literally, it is hard to walk, I get heart attacks. If only I had PR, I would immediately leave and get any job.

As a postdoc, I understand your pain, I am in the same boat, however getting a PR is not the ultimate solution to relieve our pain. Hope one day we all can find our final solution...by starting to have a PR....

Hey Goggi,

In which field you are working on, biomedical or chemistry? I am anxious to hear that since I got a postdoc offer from Canada, but I am in the middle of deciding between other few offers!!!

Expecting your reply.

I am working in biochemistry, have PhD from Europe. Currently I am working 12 hours per day, 6 days working week. If I ever knew that it will be so bad, I would drop out of university.
I hoped that EE system make things faster/simpler, but it made it all much worst.

I think it is very hard to get a good job with PhD or Masters in Canada because most jobs require only basic qualifications such as trade certificate or at most college. The jobs that required Masters or PhD are only available to brothers, sisters, closed friends, relatives etc of existing employees. Even if you have the PR, it is still very difficult to live in Canada with Masters or PhD. Why don't you go to USA instead?

Does the working hours are same in all universities? May I know which university are you working? If you cannot reveal that, no problem. I got an offer from Waterloo.

I think it mainly depends on who your boss is and what you want to achieve during your postdoc. In our lab we have quite flexible hours, you can come and go whenever you want or whenever you feel appropriate, nobody will point finger at you. I am from UBC.

I have to ask the stupid question - why not just register with jobbank???? You hate your job... would it be so horrible if you got another job offer as a result?

Hello. I have a friend who wants to do pdf in Canada. After I did some research, I think the main issue with EE is that, pdf is LMIA exempt, which means pdfs cannot get the 600 points. I don't know if the points in future draws will decrease, but it's pretty obvious that the rules should be amended to give points to LMIA exempt scholars and researchers, because, as you guys said, pdfs have job offers and are making contributions. I think people in the same situation should try to raise your voice because without the points, it's pretty hard to be invited at this point.
