Hello everyone!

I have an offer letter and contract for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship from a university in BC. I want to take my wife and my son (2 years) with me to Canada. We are all German citizens.

What would the fastest route to a work permit be for our case? Here is what I'm planning to do based on the information I have gathered so far:

- I will apply for a work permit, checking "other" in the IMM1295E form, supplying my employer's name and address as well as the offer letter and the contract -- is this correct?

- I'll fill out the family form and will check that my wife and son will accompany me.

- My wife would want to take a temp job at some point, as a waitress for example, but doesn't need the work permit from the start. Would it speed up the process now if we just get a work permit for me and worry about hers in Canada? What documents would I need to submit for her to be able to accompany me, in addition to our marriage certificate and a photocopy of her passport? Alternatively, if an open work permit for her takes the same time anyway, how do we signify in the IMM1295E form that her application is dependent on mine?

- My son of course doesn't need a study permit, is it sufficient to say in the familiy information that he will accompany me, add his birth certificate, and a photocopy of his passport -- or do I need any other forms / documents?

- What amount of funds available will we need to demonstrate? Or could the salary mentioned in the contract be sufficient?

We'll also add the two photos of each of us, I'll add a document from my university that shows that I'll be qualified for the job offered, the receipt for the fee payment, a CV for me, and police certificates for my wife and me. Anything else that I might have overlooked?

Thanks in advance!
