Dear Friends,

I will be flying to Toronto in couple of month.
I came to know about post landing services offered by yaxis consultants(Hyderabad, India).
They are charging INR 10k for this.

Services offered are,

Ticketing assistance
help in opening Bank Account
Support in getting a sim card
Help with money exchange
Pickup from airport (Based on availability of their agent)
Search a temporary accommodation
Scout locations and find a suitable permanent accommodation(T&C apply).

I am least bothered about rest of the services except airport pickup and house hunting.

Have anyone availed their services?
They want me to sign an agreement stating all the services are provided based on the availability of their agent in Toronto.Am skeptical because all the terms in the agreement are in his favor, which gives him a excuse to escape.
pls respond with your experience if you have already availed their services.

regards
Raja

I wouldn't pay for any of these services. You can get almost all of them for free. For example, applying for a SIN is dead easy - you don't need help - and for the bank account, banks have staff that help you set up a bank account for free. It's extremely easy to book an airport transfer in advance. Just google "Toronto airport taxi" and you'll get lots of reputable hits. You can easily email one of these companies and they will be at the airport waiting for you with a sign when you arrive (and their services won't be "based on availability of agent" - you can guarantee they will be there). Find a good real estate agent and they will look for a permanent accommodation for free too.

This is a great business model by this consultancy firm - Y axis or whatever is the name. Such groups deceive innocent unsuspecting newly landed immigrants. Please do not pay a single penny to such cunning firms.

You're throwing away money - but it's obviously your choice.

Pretty much all of the services you are paying for are available free in Canada. The only one that should cost money is the pick up at the airport. Depending on where you're going - that should be less than $100.

Could not agree more. If you book a taxi from airport to places such as North York etc. you would certainly not pay more than $60. In fact if you are like me and are traveling light ( I had 2 bags btw) , do not book a taxi. The TTC has such a good service and all you spend is $3 for TTC+ taxi fare - from TTC station where you get down to your accommodation- which would not be more than $20.
