"An applicant can appoint a person to do business with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on their behalf. Does XXX (name of applicant) want to allow IRCC give their information to an appointed person (such as an immigration consultant, lawyer, friend or family member) to contact IRCC on their behalf? This person can also get details on their case file, such as the status of their submission or application. (This person is called a "representative".)"

Option - Yes or No

Not sure if I understand what it means. I don't have a representative and am doing this EE thing all by myself. Should I ''allow' IRCC to give my information to an appointed person? What happens if I choose 'No'?

You only choose "Yes" if you are using a lawyer, attorney, immigration consultant etc. or some other kind of representative on your behalf. If you are doing everything yourself, you simply choose "No"

Good luck!

I would choose 'No' as well. From my instinct I also believe it was about whether I am applying via a representative.

It's the wording of this paragraph that just got me confused, especially about 'allowing IRCC to give their information yada yada'.

Yeah I know what you mean about the wording. It does get you from time to time. There are other areas where you can get confused too. Thankfully this forum is of immense help.
