Post ITA asks for my step kid’s parents' information

The post-ITA profile asks for my step kid's father's information(it asks for all the family member of my step kid, so that's my wife, her ex-husband and me).

After my wife and I put it in, the checklist for the kid's form asks us to upload proof of Canadian citizenship of all kid's Canadian family members(i.e. my wife and her ex-husband). I really doubt if her ex-husband would like to share such personal information with us.

I wonder can I just upload my wife's passport and add an explanation letter stating that it would be difficult for us to obtain such information?
Or will the missing of my wife's ex-husband's passport information lead to reject from CIC?

That seems to be your only option anyways. Be thorough with the explanation Letter. If you tell them it is humanly not possible to obtain such info because the other guy, due to its relation with us, does not want to share that, they will understand.

Actually I just find this on the CIC website.
It seems it won't be considered as incomplete and reject at once.
Hope this helps others in similar situation.

As applicable to their situation, applicants are required to submit the following documents through their MyCIC account as part of their e-APR. The system does not let applicants submit their e-APR until documents have been uploaded into the provided fields.

In contrast to other documents, however, applications will not be rejected as “incomplete” if the documents listed below are not provided to the proper specification.

Applications can, however, be refused if the processing office does not have enough information on file to be satisfied that the applicant meets the requirements of the program to which they are applying.
