My brother was studying in Canada for 3 years, after he had 4 courses left, he decided to go with another diploma which was only 34 weeks. he did not receive diploma from the first program as he did not continue with it .he applied for post grad work permit and received 7 months which was same time as his passport expiry date. he was able to secure a job but laid off after 3 months and was not able to secure another job after. also he had to go to Egypt to renew his passport as his papers where a bit complicated and there was no way he can renew his passport in Canada . now he finally was able to renew his passport in Egypt and he would like to come back. Is it possible for him to apply for extension ? or because last degree from the diploma was only 34 weeks he cant obtain another work permit? would the time he studied before his diploma count as well? or not as it was different program and he did not finish it ?

What is his current status? Is the permit still valid?
Does his work permit have any note like "Document issued to passport expiry date; must be renewed for further extensions. port graduate work permit."?
Technically his first program should not count since he didn't complete it, but maybe he was lucky and they counted it anyway.

His work permit was expired . Unfortunately the note on his previous work permit says that it will expire April 2nd and must leave Canada April 2 . Can he still apply for extension and provide an explanation letter? Or if yes what application can he apply for

Also forgot to add that he is currently in Egypt , and the reason it took him to long to renew the passport was due to ela waiver from military services was required and it took so long to be issued in Egypt . Also in his diploma certificad it is mentioned that the duration is 34 weeks. However there was 3 months preparation courses , he can obtain a letter stating that the total duration was from September to June . Not sure if it will help his case

Prevoius deploma time will not count as he didn’t finish it...Second program was only 34 weeks...he was only eligible for 34 weeks which is 8.5 month...even he apply for extension he will only get extra 1.5 months...but since his PGWP is expired he must leave Canada or apply for tourist visa

If his PGWP did not have the wording I stated above it means it wasnt extensible when granted plus its too late now anyway if its its been expired since April he is out of status and out of restoration time so it is no longer an option.

He must look into any other immigration option at this point if he wants to come back to Canada.
