Post Graduation Work Permit

Hello,

I am an Indian national and will be completing my four year degree program in April 2017 after which I intend applying for the post graduation work permit. Since I am doing a four year program, I believe I am eligible to receive a three year work permit. However, my passport expires in August 2018 and my study permit is valid till July 2017. Will I receive a work permit for three years or will it be only till August 2018? Will I need to apply for an extension of the work permit?

Personal view and to avoid complications if you can then apply for a new passport given as you say the PGWP may have an end date same as passport expiry.

It will be up to August 2018 with one remark to apply for the remaining period along with new passport.

I have a question. I am on my PGWP since May 2014 and is valid until May 2017.

When i renewed my visa after getting PGWP, they gave me visa until the validity of my passport which is 2022. Generally, CIC approves visa for the same period as work permit (this was the case with all my friends).

Will this thing help me by any chance if i dont get PR until MAy 2017?

No, it won't help because you need a valid permit to maintain your PR application procesing.
