Hello,

I'm a recent graduate from a university bachelor's program which requires 120 credits to graduate. However, I was able to finish the program in 3 years as I had about 20 credits even before attending the university. I've just received my confirmation letter, and it claims that my work permit is valid until 2016 May.

Is this a standard length of the visa given to bachelor's students? If not, is there any way to report this issue?

Thanks in advance,

By any chance, does your passport expire in May 2016?

You should have got PGWP valid for 3 years, but if your passport validity is less, then the CIC is issuing the permit accordingly (less then 3 years). That's why yes_on is asking you about your passport. If it's the case, after 2 years, you can apply for the rest of these 3 years (1year in your case), when you get the new passport.

Thank you, and I believe that was the issue (my visa wasn't issued to the exact passport validity date, but they are very close). How can I apply for the rest of the years? I've looked up CIC but I could not find the information for re-applying PGWP, all the sources claim that it is one-time use

Thank you,

Just in case if anyone has the same issue regard to their PGWP:

I've talked to one of the agents at CIC, and I was confirmed that my visa was issued to my passport validity date. However, you can simply get an extension to three years by re-applying to PGWP, if you have received a renewed passport.

For more information, google "Application to Change Conditions or Extend Your Stay in Canada as a Worker". For some reason I am not allowed to post links

This is interesting. I too received only 2.5 years because of my passports validity. I never thought of asking if i could get the remaining 6 months. I'll have to look this up.

Yes, you can, if you were eligible.

Hi,

I have a passport valid till march 2018. i am going to apply for PGWP in april 2016.
so, i will get a visa valid till march 2018 (can anyone tell me the exact date of the validity?)

Thanks,
Vishal

If you are entitled to 2 years or more, you will be limited by the expiration of your passport, therefore the WP will expire with your passport, same date.
