Hiii mead....

I was in one year program and because of some circumstances i did not complete second semester. College said i have to wait 8 month to complete second semester when program start again. To fill that gap college international department gave me advise to take communication program for four month. there was 8 month gap between first and second sem.

My college gave me graduation letter and transcripts as well. CIC said you were not a regular full time student. You have 8 month gap between study. College spoke to CIC officer but they did not listen them too.

You are in this situation most likely because your program has just one start date (only one particular intake). Hence, you had to wait for the batch to follow up for next semester. Now, this wasn't a bad idea to drop a semester as many students do so to earn next semester fee as it allows them to work full time on OCWP during break taken. But this decision has to be taken with extra care such as in your case you should have considered your program start dates.

Considering what your lawyer has advised you and the situation you are in, now you apply for another study permit or PGWP, it will be restoration case. I think applying for study permit for at least one semester program won't be a bad idea (I believe it still allows you to apply for PGWP after successful completion of the program). PGWP is indeed a one time process (but only in the case when it has been granted to you).

Lets see what solution others have to offer.

Wish you luck.

well what really important is at the moment to know; how many days ago you completed your education? I am discussing this because wondering if you are heading towards getting into implied status.

You can reapply for PGWP and you may have to pull your sox if you are approaching 90 days window coz once it is crossed, things get bit messy as you won't have any status at all here.

what documents (educational from college) you uploaded? did you opt for part time studies (means did you switch from full time to part time, if yes then after how many semesters)?
hey bro,need some info here
i applied to george brown college for jan 2014 for electromechanical engineering technician(2 yr diploma) and wireless networking(1yr pg diploma).
i want to go for electromechanical engineering but people say visa chances are less for diploma program ...so....
can i apply for visa with this 1yr pg diploma course and after getting visa can i transfer to the 2yr diploma course which would further give me a 3yr PSWP ?

please help
thank you

Hi sabby2612, how are you?

I was reading your answer and I saw that it is possible to drop/suspend 1 semester of the program to work full-time, do you know where I can find some information about it on canadian official websites?

I'd like to know the conditions for to do that because this is a nice solution for financial problems.

Thanks for your attention.

Yes it is possible and most of the students from India/Pak and neighboring countries do this as it allows them to earn full time during the break to earn next semester fee. I don't think if there is any CIC link to confirm this option, but I am sure if you talk to International help desk, they will confirm this to you.

What's really important while opting for this option is; the program you have joined, should have multiple intakes else you are in trouble. For example, if it's one year diploma with 2 semesters and starts in almost all intakes. Lets say you joined jan intake finished it by april and taken a drop for may intake. So you can rejoin from September intake subject to a running batch for semester two for the same program. That's why it's important to know if the program has back to back intakes.

Now lets assume your program has only one intake, so say if it starts in January and you take a break from may intake. Now you will have to wait for next May to start your 2nd semester.

Hope it helps.

Good Afternoon Experts

As my college and lawyer suggested me to apply for study permit again. I applied study permit on September 11th and still waiting for reply. I do have couple questions.

My college international department said that my case is not in restoration because i applied with in given 90 days. They said it's normal study permit case. Now I am confused my study permit is in restoration or regular?

I have never heard of such a thing--OCWP allows you to work for 20/hrs a week during the semester and 40/hrs week during breaks. This is the winter break etc, not a break that you decide to take. I am guessing this is illegal work. Either way, schools are now required to report to CIC if you are not enrolled in classes.

Hello,

Under which reasons would CIC reject an application for a PGWP?

I am on a study permit and in some semester I've been a part-time student.

I also have a coop visa which allows me to work.

Thank you

stop guessing coz guessing takes u to all wrong places. Talk to your international contact centre of the college or uni or call cic and u will know its not illegal. It's legal to work full time during ur breaks or if u drop a semester. Hence not illegal.
