In case I got a job almost six months after the start of my post graduation work permit which is valid for one year only. I would like to know what happens in such a case if my job offer does not have a set end date? Can I extend my stay in Canada and for how long it can be extended and based on what ?

A PGWP expires on the date on your permit. You stop working on the date. If you want to extend and have not received an ITA for PR, your employer needs a LMIA (prove no Canadian can do the job and pay $1000)and then you need a closed work permit. Few employers will go through the process as it takes time (months to process) and money. You can’t work work until you have the LMIA and closed work permit so it can be many months without working.

Hi
Are you automatically eligible to continue working after you get your ITA or it’s after AOR?

No you are not automatically eligible to continue working. If are eligible for EE-FSW since you will not be eligible for CEC without one year Canadian experience and get an ITA before your work permit expires and are in Canada, you may be eligible for a BOWP.

Note - I was replying to OP who is outside Canada. You may be eligible for CEC if you have one year Canadian experience.

You need to either get PR or LMIA
