Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) current actual processing time

Hi Everyone,

Applied for my PGWP on october 10th and got my work permit approval mail today ( Jan 28th ) saying that it has been approved. I got a second mail which asked me to login to CIC and gave me a pdf showing expiring on 27th of Jan 2017. does this mean i got work permit only for 1 year ?
I have studied for two years. 1 year pgm from seneca and 1 year from sheridan. shouldn't I get atleast two years. How can i get this rectified ? what are my options. I have a standing job offer for full time permanent from my company where I have been doing my internship.

Can I apply again or do I apply for an extension of work permit ? Some one please help.. I am worried about nw....

If I check online for the processing times, it shows 1 month for Work Permit and 140 days for work permit extension new/same employer. Is it true that if I apply today I will get it in 1-2 months? I cannot see the option to check processing time for PGWP. It Work Permit and PGWP the same thing. I haven't applied it yet. I graduated in December, got the graduation letter from college and thinking of applying in next few days.

hey, yes pgwp and workpermit is same thing POst graduate work permit is only for international graduates.
and mr. do apply early because ypu have to apply within 90 days of your graduation. if you will be late they might not given you.
so dont be late .. just do it

Hey you shouldhv completed post secondary for atleast two year.. like two year for same course.
If you are studying for one year course you'll get one year and studying for two year course will give u three year Pgwp...
so consult with some lawyer to confirm this..

I finished 3 year program at Sheridan in August and applied for my PGWP in September, received multiple emails telling me that there has been no updates to my application and thats it. I lost 4 job offers because i still have not received any information from CIC. It seems tho that people who have applied later have received their answers. I am so stressed with this situation, cant get a good night rest because of this.

I am a young professional working in DownTown Toronto. I have completed my studies as an international student in April 2015 and applied for Post-Graduate Work Permit in June 2015. The processing time has exceeded beyond 7 months and I haven't received any decisions or notification on my application yet. After repeated follow-ups with CIC Help Centre and CIC Etobicoke office where my application is transferred as per recent updates, I am still unable to get any timeline or general idea why my application is not progressing. They haven't asked for additional information either. This is affecting my professional life and also keeping me away from getting health benefits.

I am sure there are more international students with similar situation. I found CIC Help Centre's response unsatisfactory and non-transparent. There is no way to approach respective CIC office to have better clarity about the situation.

Can anyone help me on this?

Hi guys, I called cic today they said your letter has been sent but they didnt tell whether its approved or not .. So what do you think... do they tell us if it is approved or not ...i am so curious to know..well i have applied paper base

Received my work permit in the mail today
This is a miracle and am truly overjoyed

My timeline:
May 4: applied for PGWP after completing studies April 30 (online)
Sept 4: refused cos of missing $100 fee
Sept 11: applied for restoration + PGWP (paper)
Feb 10: received work permit in the mail (was issued 3 Feb)

I wish success for everyone still waiting. Thanks to all who provided guidance and support. do keep up the good work!

Hi all,
I applied for work permit in October last week and received approval today..
I have received work permit for 1 yr..
However I did a 4 semester perogram in 16 months(technically 2 yrs and included a co-op term).

Kindly let me know if I can appeal or get it modified..

Appreciate your help and advise.
