Hi,

This thread is about current actual processing time taken for Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) applications. Since CIC website does not offer any specific processing time taken for PGWP, and everything is put up under new employer work permit category, it would be really helpful for people who are seeking the most updated processing times through discussion.

Applied on: May 23, 2015
Approval : waiting........

Please help me by posting your application dates, and the actual date you received it. It will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Jaison

By the look of things expect to wait till early August

when I applied, CIC site was showing 68 days processing time, now it is 83 days, so let's find out how much time it really takes for PGWP applications

I applied on the 05 th of June, These extended processing times also restrict us from travelling back home. When I applied, The expected time was 77 days, risen to 83 Now.

My observations - They update processing times every two weeks, Last update was on the 12th of June, The next one should be on the 26th.
I would expect the processing times to drop by one day to 82. Like it has happened even before.

And dont be surprised if the processing times go up to 90 days by 26th of June.

This has been the trend and following the graph, I am looking forward to a figure of 120 to 140 days by End of July.

However my status - Waiting.

CIC updated processing time, it is still 83 days as on Jun 12, 2015

Applied on May 18th and waiting.

Lost a job offer because of this :(

You're still perfectly allowed to work while you wait for a PGWP even if your study permit expires.

Yes but its really hard to get new job offers as your work permit expires soon and you dont have proof that you will get pgwp for sure. So companies hesitate to give full time offer. What if pgwp is not approved? Then its a loss for them.

Nandini, What was the time frame when you applied? You can always get an e mail from CIC mentioning your UCI & name saying you are eligible to hold a full-time offer.

As I hold a full-time position at the moment and I am yet to inform my HR, but I do have an email from CIC that clearly says we are eligible to hold a full-time position.

Hi,

It said 76 days. my permit expires on August 31st. I do have the letter from CIC. Since my contract as a student with the company expired on May 29th, I had to go to the interview process for full time position and they are not giving the offer because they are not sure what will happen after 31st. When they contacted CIC, they said they cant really tell if I will get PGWP and the company has to wait and see. All this created confusion and the HR says she cant take the risk as the nature of my job requires lot of training.

waiting time has again gone up, now it is 89 days :o

Hi guys,

I'm a bit confused about the payment of pgwp. I applied online and made a $255 payment online.
Do I still have to get two copies of the receipt and send them via mail?

Thanks
