Post-Graduation work permit : need advice

Hey all,

I am a US citizen currently finishing my Bachelor of Education degree in Ontario. This is an 8-month program. I have a line on a job teaching in northern Saskatchewan that would start in September of 2012. My questions/inquiries are as follows:

The Post-Graduation work permit will allow me to work in Canada for as long as my program of study, which is 8 months. The contract in Saskatchewan is obviously for a year, so should I even bother applying for the Post-Grad work permit? I figure if I did, I would have to apply for a new work permit once the 8 months is up. Or is it possible to simply apply for a "normal" work permit with the district school board in Saskatchewan as my employer (sponsor?)?

My goal is to waste as little time and money as possible in this process, while getting the work permit I need.

There are several advantages to the post-graduate work permit:
1. you do not need a job offer to apply
2. you can do any job
3. when it expires, should your employer want to keep you, they will not have to proof recruitmemt efforts(i.e. show that no Canadian/permanent resident could do the job) when they apply for a labor market opinion(LMO) since you were originally hired under this work permit.

If you still prefer, you can ask the employer to apply for a LMO for the length of your contract - depending on where you live, it could take several weeks and there is no guarantee it will be approved.

Be aware that after completion of your program, you only have 90 days to apply for a post-graduate work permit.
