Hi,
I have completed my three years program. I had an 8 months co-op after my semester 4. (From September 2017 to April 2018). I took this 8 months break since I couldn't qualify for the co-op. I returned to school on summer 2018 and finished my final semesters. My program coordinator adviced me that it's an official break for me since I have got dropped out of co-op. I was full time in all those official semesters. Do this 8 months break will affect my work permit?.

Can you explain what you meant by you couldn't qualify for the co-op? International students do co-op all the time. What about the credits from your co-op term required for graduation?

This will likely affect your PG work permit as you were not full time during the whole duration of your studies. There were a thread here a few days ago for someone being denied PG work permit because of dropping one course in his first semester on a 4-year program.

As far as I am aware, it is only an official break if other people in the class have the same break. Others may comment, but this will affect your PGWP.

In answer to BC, when I was at college you had to get over a certain GPA to be allowed to do the COP-OP. Not sure what the OP's situation is though

Hi All

Apologies in advance as I have really no knowledge on Work Permits and extension just asking for someone. My cousin work permit (PGWP) is expiring on Feb 04, 2019. She was unable to apply due to some unseen circumstances can she apply now ? is there any dead line to file the work permit extension application.

She was initially issued only 1.5 WP because of her passport expiry.

Appreciate your help in advance

Thanks

The reason why i did not qualify is because my first co-op was after my third semester. i dropped a semester 3 course which ended up dropping me out of co-op. Since i was not qualified for the first co-op i could not take the next one (the one after semester 4 which was of 8 months). And all other students in my class were also send on break since our semester 5 is scheduled after 8 months. My program coordinator advised me that its an official break.
