POST GRADUATE WORK PERMIT

Hello,

I have a PGWP from August 2014 till 2017

It says on my PGWP that re-entry is not guaranteed. I have a full time job and I was wondering if this means that I am not allowed to leave the country for a vacation? I thought that PGWP gives you the option to leave and come back to Canada in the period of 3 years.

I would appreciate if someone can give me more information.

Thanks
Dijana

You can leave country whenever you want.
"re-entry is not guaranteed" means you cannot re-enter Canada using that PGWP, You need visa to re-enter Canada.

Thank you for the answer, but I do not have a temporary resident permit. I only have post graduate work permit. Country that I am from (i have citizenship -Croatia) does not require visa to enter to Canada. Do I still have to apply for Temporary Residence Permit if I want to visit home country and come back? Or is it enough that I have a full time job here in Canada and a PGWP until 2017?

Thank you

If you are from Visa exempt country then you don't need Visa to enter Canada. You can leave and enter Canada whenever you want. While coming back to Canada you will need to carry your PGWP along with your passport + other applicable documents.

It would be rare that you would be refused entry with a PGWP - if you are employed full time, you will be fine. Doesn't hurt to carry a letter from your employer, or copy of most recent paystub.

You could be denied entry if (for example) there were criminal charges against you, or CIC had some reason to believe that you won't leave at the end of your permit (e.g. you would stay illegally). If you were unemployed and had zero financial resources, that might also be a problem.

PGWP is one type of temporary residence permit. If you are not from a visa-exempt country, however, you might need a TRV to be allowed to board a flight to Canada.
