I am a PhD student who is about to graduate (The only thing left for me is PhD defense), therefore, I will be able to apply my post-graduate work permit. Meanwhile, I have an offer for a post-doc follow position in an university in Ontario. However, the HR people from the university told me that the university have to apply my work permit for me after I graduate to be able to work according to the new rule affected in February 2015.
My question is: does my post-graduate work permit allow me to be hired as a post-doc follow or McMaster university has to apply the work permit for me?
What I found on CIC website is that the new rule applies to PhDs that graduate from foreign university but the website does not specify what happens to international PhD students graduate from Canadian university.
Can anyone help me to clarify my situation please? I am really confused.
