Hi guys, I am currently on a study permit and will be applying for PGWP in July. My question is regarding distance learning courses. The CIC website mentions I am not eligible for PGWP if I take more than 50% of my courses online but it does not mention if I will be eligible for PGWP if I talk exactly 50% (no less or more) of my courses online. Do you guys have any idea if I will be eligible for PGWP if I take exactly 50% of my courses online?

Just read some posts online saying that Ottawa has a new policy coming out to allow international students to extend their PGWP to another 18 months.
Not sure if this have been formally announced yet. Waiting for more details to come.

Been following this forum for a while and want to provide an update. Hopefully this will be helpful to others.
PGWP Applied - 4th November 2020 Approved - 23rd December 2020
City - Vancouver,BC
I have had some unauthorized work and had a semester where I withdrew from all my classes midway due to personal issues. I only explained my withdrawal in the LOE. I did not find out till today about my approval when I got an email from cic. I wish you all the best of luck with all your permits and future work.
Just edited to add no biometrics/medicals
Received my biometrics fee refund on 4th Jan. I am still waiting for my physical permit. Anyone approved after 20th dec an received their physical permit?

Hello Kind People - Please help!

I am on a student visa currently and my MBA program ends in March 2021. I am in India right now. I have to begin my job in Canada ( I have a valid job offer) from July 2021. Current processing times of the Work permit are 30 weeks and 15 weeks if applied from India and Canada respectively. 30 weeks will be too long given my start date in July. Entering Canada now on a Student permit and staying there for 15 weeks post-March will be too expensive and meaningless. What do you propose I do? I have to ensure that I enter Canada before July 2021. Also, are these processing times expected to come down as processes stabilize?

Thanks a lot..

If it says you cant work in medical you cant work in medical and will need to get the permit amended, someone posted a link above I think.

My work permit doesn't say so. I'm only asking because I didn't do a medical exam and still don't have that restriction.

I got approval on December 17 and haven't got the hardcopy as of today (3 weeks 2 days). I'm in Toronto. I called them and found out that my PGWP was mailed from Edmonton.

Hello guys

Could anyone please share your experience that how long it could take for them to take the final decision about pgwp after we submit the explanation letter asked by the immigration officer.

Thanks in advance

Depends on how quick the VO gets it.
What was the issue? Why did VO ask for a letter?

Thanks for your reply.
It was actually pgwp application and I was working on my thesis in some terms and was not taking any courses which is usual in thesis based programs. But officer was in doubt that I was studying part time during those terms. So I just send him a letter of explanation with confirmations from my university and supervisor.
PS all my class mates got approvals right away without showing any proofs. I was a little unfortunate lol.
