Hello Everyone. My name is Robert. I am from the US. I am posting this blog because I am very concerned about my PGWP application as well as my current situation. I completed my studies in Canada in April 2015. Once I received a letter from my university confirming my graduation, I applied for the PGWP on May 12, 2015. I applied over 30 days before the expiration of both my Student and Off-Campus Work Permits--which terminated on June 30, 2015. Within that same month (May 2015), I quit my job in Canada and returned home to New York to work there temporarily until I receive my PGWP. Ever since then I have been waiting and waiting for months for some form of feedback from CIC. It has been nearly 130 days I have been waiting and I haven't heard any response from CIC regarding my application. This is now over the required amount of time for CIC to process my application--which is 120 days. I have two friends who filed after me and they already received their permits. One filed three days after I did on May 15th and another filed his in June 2015. On September 16, they requested I send them in a Payment Receipt for an Open Work Permit Holder Fee and a $100 payment in which I have completed and uploaded it on their system in less than 48 hours. Should I be at all concerned about my situation? I am extremely nervous and wondering if it was injurious to my application with me returning home to the United States.

The fee went up, you have to pay an additional amount. $150 extra I think. Someone will be along shortly to give a more thorough answer. It's happened to a lot of people though.

Soli82,

Being in the US has nothing to do with your application of a PGWP. In fact a lot of former students traveled after they had applied. The OWP fee is still $100. To know more and get to know that you are not in this situation alone, please check out this forum only dedicated to PGWP applicants since March 2015:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/lets-share-timeline-pgwp-march-applicant-t284967.1125.html

The link takes you to page 76 of the forum. However, its currently on page 84. Join the struggle and stay positive.

Cheers!
