Yeah but 2 years still are getting 3 years of permit.

icecool22----- i READ ONE OF YOUR POST ON THIS THEAD ABOUT PASSPORT VALIDITY.Myself I am entitled to get three years but my passport was only valid for an extra two years the monet I applied for my PGWP. SO, at the base of the WP document i recieved, it says" issued until the validity of the passport". Ans as soon as i will renew my passport i can send my case to vegreville back fro extension. The same might be the case for this person who actually asked this question and started this thread(sorry don't know your name). I graduated from Algonquin college of ottawa ON last year with a three year diploma in Mechanical Engienering. So, i though i might share my experience. But I have heard you only the work for the amount of time you have studied in canada. i-e, 2 years study=2 years WP. but again in the case of masters I am nto sure, may be they do issue for three years even if you took two years master's programme(respecting the level of education may be).

Hey, no people who are studying for 2 years are getting 3 years of work permit, which is very common..I dont think that 2 years=2 years of WP..cuz generally 2 years of studies are resulting in a 3 years of WP...Yes you should be able to apply for an extension, what does cic say?

Well they haven't said anything coz i havent applied for teh extension of the last year coz my work permit is valid until august 2012

i think you need to call their hotline and hear what they have to say about this..What does the international student department of your college says?

oh i called them rite away last year and they told me that u need to apply again whenever u get your passport renewed and today out of curiosity i called them again and they said the same thing ... that whenever your passport is renewed u can simply apply again .... hopefully all will be good. Doesn't seem like that there is an issue.

ya i hope i get a 3 years of work permit too...I am completing a 2 years diploma, fingers crossed bro....did you studied for 2 or 3 years?

I studied for three years ... so yeah thats why i got three years ... i guess you will get for three years. It probably also depends what kind of qualifcation you are getting and what is your GPA average ... i personally doubt these things matter but could effect. for example for one specific trade they might need alot of work force than other, so yeah but dont worry you are going to fine.

I studied for three years ... so yeah thats why i got three years ... i guess you will get for three years. Thanks. Ok so, people are getting three years PGWP visa with two years of education in Canada. Because my brother is comign over this week and he has a two year degree course. So, just wandering you know if he is most probably going to get two years or three years.

there are more chances of a three year visa than 2 years as a lot of students got three years with a 2 year diploma..But some students also got only 2 years which is extremely scary, i wish people could put some of their personal experiences in this thread..

Yeah i know it is scary because one year work experience and then you can apply which leaves you with one year and their timelien for this CEC category is going to increase every day not decrease. So, yeah it is scary man. No way you can egt your residency stuff sorted out in two years. In three years yeah it does work.

do you know anyone with a personal experience of recieving a 3 years permit with a 2 years of studies?
