Hi Friends,

I have 7 yrs experience in Oracle erp domain. I am smart and capable in my profession .But feels stagnated in life.

I thought of going abroad for studies, I want to earn quickly after studies. So, I was told about post graduate program in canada by a education consultany.

I have couple of doubts here:

1) Was the degree recognized in canada to get a job?

2) Was the degree valid in india?

3) Please suggest me a good college, keeping my professional background.

4) Can I do part time while studying? How long the visa permit me to stay in canada?

Will be more pardoned if someone answers my questions.

Thankyou
God bless you all.

Hi bigworld,

My profile is also similar.I have around 8 years experience in Oracle domain.
I too am planning for higher studies (MS) in Canada and am doing some initial research which might also help you as well.

Canadian degree (especially from University) is expected to be a good option to get a job in canada. I have seen experienced people suggesting to do post graduation from an University and not from college ( even though the cost of education is higher in University).

Yes, as an international student you can work upto 20 hours/per week legally and during breaks/holiday you can work full time.
Please see the excerpt from the cic website

"Study permit holders in Canada may gain work experience by working off campus while completing their studies.

As of June 1, 2014, you may qualify to work off campus without a work permit. If you qualify, your study permit will allow you to:

work up to 20 hours per week during regular academic sessions and
work full-time during scheduled breaks, such as the winter and summer holidays or spring break."

If you are doing a full time MS of 2 years, then you will get a 3 years work permit.
Please see the excerpt from the cic website

"A work permit under the PGWPP may be issued for the length of the study program, up to a maximum of three years. A post-graduation work permit cannot be valid for longer than the student's study program, and the study program must be a minimum of eight months in length. For example, if you graduate from a four-year degree program, you could be eligible for a three-year work permit if you meet the criteria. If you graduate from an eight-month certificate program, you would be eligible for a work permit that is valid for no more than eight months."

Regarding good university, I am seen people recommending University of Toronto, University of Waterloo and McGill University for Computer Science

"Was the degree valid in india?" >> I guess experienced members will able to help.
