Hi Experts,

After long internet research, I am here again looking for answers for my queries.

Who I am?
I am an Indian student got acceptance in Project Management- Eight-month program from September 19 to April 20 in Conestoga College. I have one year of experience as Ass. Project Manager in IT company from India.

What do I want to know?
+ Are there any chances that one Year Work Permit will be useful to me? I am not sure that I will be able to find the Manager job just after completing my program.
+ What will be the average hourly pay for a part-time job for a new International student?
+ What if I plan for another course as HR Do I need to pay the GIC amount again?
+ I am planning to shift to Winnipeg after completing the Project Management for HR program. Is it a good choice?
+ Is it possible to receive full GIC amount once landed Canada? Since I want to use that amount to pay my next program fee.

Your suggestions will be very helpful!!

Good Day! :)

1) Depends on your individual skill and luck, if you have the right connections then it's possible.
2) Expect minimum wage ($14 CAD in Ontario). You might get more depending on your experience/difficultly of the job, but don't expect a lot.
3) No. If you have an final offer letter then you can get a study permit extension.
4) If you think you can get jobs there, or the PNP program is better for you then you can go. PGWP is a federal program, so it does not matter if one course is in a different province. However you will lose all Ontario PNP options for International student graduates.
5) No, you will only get 2000 CAD upfront. You can however save up that money that you will get monthly during your first course and pay your next program fees.

Thanks for your response!!

I am concern about the 5th point mentioned by you. I believe I have to apply for my next program in August/September 2019 (For intake May 2019) If I apply after that I am not sure whether I will get admission in UOW or not. +Just for the safer side+

I will apply for the next program for May 2020. My agent told me that I have to apply for that program in Aug/Sep. Lets make it clear:

September 19 to April 20--> Project Management(LOA received)
May2020- Not applied yet. Will apply in Aug/Sep

Right buddy, perhaps you should then see what you wrote. You wrote may 2019

So, regarding the GIC, Assuming you open the account in September, you will get 2,000 CAD then for 12 months you will get 660 odd CAD. So, assuming you don't spend the money at all, buy April 2020 you should have got 2,000 + 4620 (660 x 7). Your GIC will continue for 12 months, so by April you will have 6620 CAD. Depending on the course this should be enough for 1 semesters fees. The second semester will be due later on, by which time you should have remaining GIC and something saved up.

Good Day! :)

Concerning your last two points....I guess HR program is around 17K CAD...why to spend totally on two different streams....you can get a Job and if employer permits for LMIA processing (most employer ask you to pay for LMIA process) you can continue to work. So better option would be to join the program there and around November 2019 you will get some connections or information through Professor and if none works...you can apply for a program relating to IT in that same college and extend your study permit.

Also, recently they changed the PGWP rule we will get 2 years of work permit for 1+1 course or 2 years program. But for program more than 2 years we get 3 yrs PGWP.
