post doctoral fellowship for mother's SUPERVISA

Good day all,

I am a permanent resident in Canada. I intend to apply for my mother's supervisa. I am just completing my Phd. studies and plan to continue working as a Post -doctoral research fellow (PDF) . These post-doctoral fellowships are usually 1 or 2 yr terms with a salary range $40,000 - $60,000. Would this be sufficient to get a letter of employment from the institute which hires me as a PDF to get my mother's SUPERVISA ?

yes that will work. The letter must mention your position, full time employment and salary. However if you can get latest T4 if not latest pay stubs ( 2 to 3 ) then include that as well.

post-doc is a full-time position but it is a 2 yr contract (that is 'temporary). Will it be a problem ?

Sorry. I thought you are already working as a Post -doctoral research fellow . If you already secured the position ask for a contract. It will do then.

If you could not get a contract now- wait till you get it, and then apply.

will this be ok? or shall I ask them for any other info?

Also , so just to confirm, with the contract alone I can apply for my mother's Supervisa in my very first month of employment
and do not need to wait for 2 to 3 paychecks? please confirm.

There will be either 1 or 2 years. There will not be one OR two,

From what I know if you get a contract for 1 year, then your mother could be issued only one year visa. Not necessary but it could happen.

in my very first month of employment

I would wait 3 months but I think nothing is wrong with applying right away.

To sponsor your mother for PR in 2017, you must produce Canadian tax returns for the years 2015, 2014 and 2013 that show you have met the minimum income requirements for all three years. You can find the income requirements for earlier years in the link below (the requirements for 2015 haven't been published yet):

Based on what you've written previously and the fact you have just finished your PhD, it sounds like it will be another three years before you qualify to sponsor her for PR.
