Just received an email from New Delhi for the inquiry sent on 28th June 2011. Background investigations are going on by outside agencies which is not in their control whenever it is completed the next step will be determined. No actions required from my part.

Dont know what to feel happy or dissappointed that still the background checks are being conducted :-\

Hey always ....
maybe its bcoz of the re submission of ur older passports ...since u mentioned u had some travel history in ur old pp ...maybe thats the reason its taking time ....so dont give up ..i am sure its a matter of a week or so ...since so much time is already gone ....

Thats' good news, its happened to me as well for a week, and in 8th day when I login to view my e-cas, it was there: Decision Made.. and after 10 days I received my Passport with visa.. so Cool and wait to receive ur passport. Congrats..

Rohan ....i did some research and i am convinced that there is no such minimum pp validity period ....

Its only for temporary visas such as students and visitors ...so i dont understand how did this happen in ur case ?

I hope u renew ur pp's and send them and get ur visas back very soon ....since many of the ppl who sent their pp's after lamination or so got their visas in couple of weeks ....so dont loose hope ....

Thanks for all the support Uzma, I should be able to reniew my wife's pp by the end of next week and will be able to courier it back immidiately post that. Also thanks for the research work though i'm left wid just hav one option to reniew pp & send it back. I also rec'd an email from chc today about the same pp thingy.

I have an update too ...finally received the passport back ....but not with visa on it .......
It is the same case as urs ...my husbands expiry is less than 6 months so asked us to send new pp's soon...
I am actually kinda relieved that something happened and atleast now we can send back pp asap ...
We are applying in the tatkal ...how about u ?.....did u apply in tatkal as well ....

Hi uzma, ill say congrats to you, at least the suspense is over and now you know that your pps were picked up for stamping.

Congrats again to both you and rohan. Don't know how much time will they take for my background checks, there r people on this forum who have also waited for a year to get the visas after pp submission.

Our appln has for sure gone for a toss.
