Is Citizenship Judges and officials that administer the citizenship oath are on strike also , the reason for cancelled victual appointment's. Judges and Officials pay grade are very high with lots of benefits not like the permeant IRCC staff that's on strike . So they "the government" hire temporary staff that's not in any part of the union , working as normal to deal with visas ,passport backlogs etc. Why they ain't allocate Citizenship temporary staff to deal with the IT stuff like the work with the immigration Judges , zoom meetings and mailing out the certificates ,Guessing that's what the permanent staff do and deal with this strike situation, just my 2 cents .
judges aren't unionized so they aren't involved in the strike

WOW, so what takes the government to hire Temp staff to deal with the Citizenship Ceremonies virtual or in person and passport applications and not create a backlog . i always say

"if a government can't deal with It, then the government is part of the problem, "

Good sense of management. I actually got some really senseless money from CRA today.

That's because not everyone in the union voted in favor of a strike, but they are legally obligated to strike or they will be breaking union rules. Some of the picketers they showed in Ottawa were literally on their phones, yawning and even walking off to get coffee. They didn't look like they wanted to participate lol
This news is picking up pace. Also they seem the deals may happen very soon. https://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/treasury-...hed-as-psac-strike-enters-third-day-1.6365434

So they have a budget of 43 Mil. With 155,000 people on strike thats just close to $275 for each person over all. How many days can these workers go on with $75 a day ($270/4). So I think, if by the end of tomorrow there is no progress they will have to think of some other strategy.

Looks like the 43 Mill allocated for the strike is indeed for 4 business days. Saying by next week Monday they will reach a deal ,yes come on lets get the ball rolling ,back to work .

Just got an email (2:30 pm Fri, April 21) from the SCR office:

"Hello,

Due to the strike action, your immigration event planned for April 24, 2023 is canceled. We will reschedule your event as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding."

Oh shoot, sorry about that!
But what if the strike ends on Sunday? Isn't it a bit early to cancel for Monday?? Smh...

I don't think it will go that long. My friend works in one of the orgs in strike. They are not getting paid. Union is paying them 375 a week, they are going for picketing 4 hours a day. Most of the people don't have a second job so they can't go payless for a long time.
But you know how the rescheduling normally works with IRCC. So, honestly, I don’t want to have high hopes, and then get disappointed again.
