Services partially or fully disrupted
In the event of a labour disruption, like most Government of Canada services, most IRCC services would be impacted. You should expect delays with:

  • processing applications
  • in-person appointments or events including citizenship ceremonies
  • contacting IRCC via email, phone or social media
  • consular citizenship and passport services
  • passport services in Canada
As we learn more about a possible labour disruption, we will continue to update this page to tell you how services may be impacted.

Is there a source for this news/event?

Thanks, missed that.
This is not great, not sure what happens to oaths already scheduled, as well as when time comes to apply for new passports.
Not to mention applications being processed right now.
The strike hasn't started yet. We'll have to wait and watch. Hopefully, they will resolve it soon

Did some searching and it looks like a similar strike happened in 2013. Foreign service officers went on strike in the visa centers abroad affecting student and other temp. visa applications. Went on from June to end of September. Hopefully that isn't the case this time.

Yep. And guess who applied for a study permit smack in the middle of that? Got it in 3 weeks.

This strike isn’t just IRCC. it’s pretty much all of the canada.ca departments. CRA, E.I., etc. it’s been in the news for a while.
