Possible Income Refusal???

Me and my Fiancee both live and work in China, I am Canadian and want to sponsor her to come to Canada. But my yearly income in China is well below the income requirements for a sponsor ($13000). We live a middle class life here with no children or major expenses. Coming to Canada we would stay with family until we found jobs I know that the govt will questions about how we plan to support ourselves, we wouldnt need social assistance as every family member of mine lives in Edmonton and can help us if ever needed.

If I go ahead and apply for immigration from China what can I provide to CIC that will prove we will be able to support ourselves on arrival in Canada and that housing, family support will not be a problem?

Seems like ive misread the requirements.... so it says on 3900E "who can sponsor"

This condition does not apply if you are sponsoring only

* your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner who has no dependent children, or
* your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner whose dependent children have no children of their own, or
* your dependent child who has no children of his or her own."

Ok so I still can sponsor, but what does this mean exactly

"You will have to provide us with documents that show your financial resources for the past
12 months and prove you are financially able to sponsor members of the family class. You
may solicit the help of a co-signer (must be your spouse or common-law partner). If you
reside in Quebec, see also Sponsors living in Quebec."

So does that mean me, the sponsor can solicit the help of a co-signer? Lets say I have my Mother, or Father as a co-signer is that possible? And what is the exact responsibility of the co-signer during the immig process and the role after landing Canada?

You can't have a co-signer for a spousal sponsorship. In classes other than spousal the co-signer can only be the sponsor's spouse and since this is a spousal sponsorship, the spouse can't sponsor themselves...

I will be in the same position as you. My parents are also willing to let us live with them and help us get on our feet. I have been told that I should get a letter from my parents stating this and it should be sufficient. Also, if you can submit credentials you have that will aid you in finding a job, that will be good too, along with your spouse. If you can show past employment you've had, both in Canada and China, that will be good proof too, so the officers will see that you and your husband have been working and not just sitting around doing nothing... Anything that will help to prove that you (and your spouse) are capable of finding working along with a letter from your parents saying you can live with them and they will help to support the both you you until you find your own footing.

Would the letters have to be notarized?

I don't think so, but I'm not positive. I would think if you had your parents' contact info all on there that should be sufficient, but maybe someone else with more experience in this will let you (and me) know for sure. But from what I've learned so far I havent' noticed anyone say that it should be notarized.

No, they don't have to be notarized. You need to establish how you plan to support yourself and your wife, or provide the necessities. So, since the roof over your head is going to be provided by family, get your parents to write a letter showing they are aware of this plan and are committed to providing support. If you have savings, show proof. If someone in the family is planning to offer you something part-time until you get a job, get it in writing. If you are both planning to upgrade your skills by attending school in Canada, show proof you have been looking into this.

My husband, (Canadian citizen), lives and pays tax in the USA. Can he sponsor me? He haven't paid any Canadian tax according to double taxation rules.

Yes, your husband is eligible to sponsor you with filing taxes in Canada if he has been residing abroad exclusively. Citizen spouses residing abroad who have not filed taxes in Canada can show proof of income from their current job, and proof of tax paid from tax records in the country they reside in.

That is correct.

CIC will also be interested in your husband's plans to re-settle in Canada when you are approved for P.R., so start thinking about documenting those as well. Submitting proof of intent to re-settle with the application will prevent his being asked to show this later on in the process.
