Welcome "snilespg2"!!

Your story is fascinating if i must say so myself. Sometimes the second time around is the best!!! :):) I wish you much love and blessings.

First of all, I'm quite new to this whole process myself. But from what i've been reading on this forum straightforward cases are those that contain no children and first time marriages. But i can honestly say in my humble opinion that every case is different. I believe the whole process is to ensure that the relationship is genuine and as long as you can prove that, then all things being equal you should be fine and get through in the normal timeframe that they suggest.

As for myself i sweated months over the paperwork and decided that i wouldn't waste my money on legal representation. There is so much guides and help provided through the CIC website that I thought i could do this myself and since all my paperwork passed go in Mississauga, i feel i made the right decision. Hiring a lawyer doesn't mean you get through faster, its just a very expensive second set of eyes on the paperwork ......so i'm told.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to inbox me directly.

This is a very hard process for all of us. I will help anyone who is willing :)

Take care and good luck!

Spirit Trac, Cruises Thank you for your responses. Quite honestly hubby is now hooked on Bim so it means becoming beach bums, after we send our daughter off to college, then so be it ;D Spirit Trac if you could email me your attorney's name and your overall experience with them that would be great. I am compulsive in organizing my own paperwork however the fact that we were married before, albeit a whole decade, still may be an issue. I too resided in the US for many years until the job prospects dried up and since I was working for my company dealing with the Canadian office, decided to hang my hat here. Best decision I made! Met awesome people here. The reality is even with the great career, and properous future ahead doesn't mean much when you have to walk that road alone, plus my daughter and hubby are inseparable. We did try for a visa and as we figured, he got denied due to having strong ties to Canada, and his past stay in the US. So I am hoping those "strong ties" that seem questionable to an IO for a purpose of a visit will serve us throughout this process as well.

Cruises I will definitely take you up on your offer and contact you if I have a question. @ Spirit it sounds as if your processing is over?? Congratulations if it is.

Links congrats.
Welcome to the newbies.

Well little news for everyone here...I got a job (temp) with a major retailer to do Recruiting. :) It end this week.
Good experience to put on my resume!:) :) Otherwise....I am okay. Just keeping a low profile and applying for jobs again! :)

Good morning everyone...just a small update. My E-cas status changed yesterday! (yes on a Sunday) Our status changed to in process with the message saying they started on the 13th of April. The office did attempt to call my husband on Friday but he missed the call due to the fact he was working. Hope all is well...and we hear good things this week.

Thank you for the warm welcome on this cold day :-) besides the conventional stuff that people normally send in (phone records, receipts, etc) could anyone suggest other records that you've used? For example I put hubby as beneficiary on my insurance policy. Maybe I could gather some more ideas to submit. Also we had a "Wedding Moon" and had no invited guess so we could enjoy our time by ourselves (We had close to 300 people the 1st go around and look where that left us :-). We do however have tons of well wishes from family and friends via email postings etc. From reading some of the posts it seems to be frown upon for the purpose of sponsorship. should I get notarized copies from both sides of the family (isn't that a little excessive?).

Thanks for your responses inadvance.

Hi Can4Vincy! Congrats on the update. I'm just wondering is this the first time that the embassy has contacted your hubby by phone? I was told that all correspondence is done in writing. I am a little worried about this as the cell number that we put on the application for my husband is not in use as he's working on a cruise ship and the house phone can be a hit and miss as his family work during the day :( I sure hope that they haven't tried calling him and no one answered. Can't help but feel worried now.

Not sure what to say other than they were given my husbands cell number and never called it. I had him calling the office the next day and they only said they wouldn't give personal info over the phone.

Sorry i'm a bit confused. You mentioned that they called your husband on Friday but he was working. Is that the first time they contacted him by phone?

Yes first time they've called him directly...everything has gone through our lawyer

that really sucks. I can't imagine to have finally heard from them, missed the call, and then to call back and have them tell you they can't provide personal info over the phone. Gosh, what to do now but just wait again. Good luck and please keep us posted! :)

strange...when the embassy called me...they left a message on my phone.
with a name and a number to call back!!!!

how come they didnt do that?

so how long was it before you hear back about them receiving your application? i am the most impatient person on the planet. this whole process is going to kill me. the instant i put it in the mail i was like omg i forgot this and i forgot that and nothing was good enough and i need to get it out of the mail box.

HONEYBIRD...His mom was actually there and took the call. She gave them his cell number and we just haven't heard back. That was last Friday then Sunday the ecas update. I don't know but it's making me crazy!!! Lol

Good evening everyone!

Just curious about something ----- how many of you experienced phone calls from the embassy??

I'm totally freaking out. I was under the impression that they never phoned, that there policy is to do everything in writing.

What happens if they tried calling my hubby and never got through?!!! ??? ??? Would they think were not serious? Would they then send us something in writing?? Both phone numbers that we put on the application don't have voice mail.

I'm in panic mode - anyone willing to help me --- please :(
