Hi Behopeful! Thank you for the awesome suggestion. He did a double check and we still don't have these documents, I have called CBSA and CIC a couple of times each and this is how it goes. CBSA wants to have nothing to do with it b/c they just do this service on behalf of CIC so they don't actually keep any of this information; CIC wants to have nothing to do with this b/c our file is already transferred to POS so they keep saying to contact the VO b/c they process the ARCs in the context of each application. I've sent a CSE to POS and surprise surprise, no response yet. So what we decided to do is to just submit the payment and everything that we have (including an excerpt from our notes which has our confirmation of departure date) for the ARC form with a detailed explanation of us not having the documents. So now, uneasily, we wait to hear from them. Medicals were also redone a week and half ago... did you know that they now require a CT Scan for the medicals?? On top of everything else they need, hubby had to do a CT Scan... the medicals in SVG are now costing about 3000 EC. I'm so fed up with this process.... honestly, I just don't get it.

3000 ex to Medicaid in st Vincent that is crazy......hello was just browsing yo ur forum I'm from st. Vincent as we'll but in the inland 2013 forum. Hope all goes well for u wish u and urs a speedy process

Ok.

First married paperwork hurdle already.

I haven't fully decided if I will take hubby's last name or keep my own (after all, I worked 8 years to get a DR in front of my last name lol and I have only had it there for a number of weeks and now I lose my last name?! and become Dr. "hislastname". I might hyphenate it. I'm still feeling it out.).

Now that we're legally married, when I fill out the paperwork for POS, do I put my own last name in case I don't go through the process of changing it legally to his last name? Or do I automatically have to use his last name on the paperwork since we married? If I DO change it, it won't be for several months - so do I use my maiden last name since all of my IDs are like this? Is that correct to do that or do you have to use your married last name?

UGHHH. lol :-X

As I'm typing a response to this I had to stop. Who is the sponsor again? I'm asking bc my hubby is the sponsor and I took his name but all paper work for CIC was done in my last name as shown in my passport.

I don't know if same apples to you or how the reverse works. Usually the girl takes the boy last name so on the form its straight forward. But if you are the sponsor then you might have to put hubby's name as is. I hope someone else can chime in.

I'm the sponsor

Miss D, I did not change my name (and likely won't). We filled out all of the paperwork with my maiden name (i'm the sponsor) and as far as I can tell, that has been the least of our worries. There was no mention of it in our notes or in hubby's interview. If you do decide to take his name, I would do that later once he is here and it will be a cleaner process! you have enough going on! That is my 2 cents, take it with a grain of salt :).

PS - Congratulations on your marriage, I'm sure it was a beautiful ceremony and hopefully, everything you hoped it would be. I have a very good feeling about your upcoming application considering the feedback you all received after your first interview.

I agree with that logic completely!! I want to wait (if I do decide to change or hyphenate it) until he's in Canada. Thank you! The wedding was beautiful... the beach was decorated with woven arches (from palm leaves), we had flowers everywhere... loved it! :)

Thanks for the encouragement!

Hey guys,

I know I've done this TWICE now... but I'm a little confused about one of the questions...

For the applicant's form "generic application form form Canada" in question #3 where it says "how many family members, including you, are in this application?" and it says "see guide". The obvious answer is ONE. Because I am a Canadian citizen already and I am only sponsoring my husband, who has no kids or anything. BUT! It says in the guide "include all family members even if they do not plan to accompany you to Canada"... so do I have to put a "2" here to include me since spouses are "family members"?

Ugh. Never. Again. lol

It's always good to be sure and triple chk :)

On my application I had put 2 but the lawyer made me Change it to 1.

I think it's 1. Because at the end of the form when you're adding dependants, it says to include your spouse/kids that are NOT already Canadian citizens... so hubby is the ONLY person listed on that form because his wife (me) is already a citizen... but I'm not 100% sure lol.

It seems like it should be.. but if I answer 2 on question #3 of his form, then I have "3" people included in the application on the sponsor questionnaire when you add it up...

I'm so confusedddddddddd

Hi Miss D, on our application, hubby put "1" for Question 3. This is application to come to Canada, which you won't be a part of b/c you're here (or will be). They didn't say we were wrong...

I had put "1" last time around too. I will put 1 I think... Thanks for the reassurance :)
