hi guys how is everyone doing, well its all over am home chilling its bloody cold outside, so am going to the mall and chil, the wife and i relaxing for a few days to soak in stuff.

quick question my wife and i want to go shop across the boarder and we wanted to know how the process is to apply for a u.s visitors visa.

btw when is @MISSD and \\\\\\\\\@DADZIN INTERVIEW.

They say you should wait 6 months or more to apply for a US visa to avoid getting denied. You just landed in Canada and the boarder officers will think you are trying to get into the states. I know the process is you book for an interview online and the place is somewhere downtown Toronto. Maybe some senior members can add to this.

Agreed. Its actually advisable to wait 1 year after landing. I've heard of people applying right after landing and getting denied with the officer telling them try in 1 year time and then they got it.

It's also dependent on whether or not you've had a US visa in the past. So have u?

nope never had never applied for one before, would just love to travel with my mom in law and wife to buffalo and shop they go every years boxing day christmas u know how it is for the shopping already hahah.

Lol I understand. Every case is different though so you can try your luck!

I think it is unfair that US greencard holders can come to Canada without a visa but Canadian PR holders need a visa!

Greetings for the JA side! Just popped in for a sec to say hello. My hubby's sister tried to apply for a Visa to go to the states after she was here a month and they denied her.......they told her she just got to Canada and to go spend sometime with her hubby before going on vacations LOL

thanks alot guys yes that sucks so unfair. i just want to say the past few days have been amazing, i called my old work place which is best buy canada and ask them for my ob back hahah they ask me if i can start right away i was freaking out, so i told them on Wednesday, haahah so am back to work on wednesday, the only down side to things is my drivers license expired cause i had the g2 and i procrastinated to do the G now its expired and i ahve to start all over again. but i think i don't have to wait to long to get the G2 after i do the G1.

Wow congrats millslu on the job! By the way you can drive for 60 days after landing with a valid Lucian license before you have to go to the MTO. I laughed thinking about you complaining about the cold yesterday......get ready :P! Blessings.

p.s. in response to your earlier posted question - Miss D. and Dadzin have their interviews this Thursday Oct. 24th......in 2 days so let's get that prayer chain going!!!

Hi Cdnandtrini

So hubby has a drivers license from home. He has had it for 11 years. Does he still need to do G1? Or will they exchange it and give him an Ontario one?

Hi FAD, he needs to bring it with him to Canada (make sure it is still valid) along with a letter of "Authentication" from the home country's Roads & Transport Authority (whatever that is in each person's country) stating that he has more than 24 months driving experience in his home country. He can drive with his Dominica license but needs to get it all changed within 60 days of landing.

If he has the letter of authentication from Dominica he will only have to do the G test. Here is the link below for how it works in Ontario: http://www.drivetest.ca/EN/licencing/Pages/Out-of-Country-Drivers.aspx - ON info.
There are a few countries that have reciprocal driving agreements but Caribbean ones are not on that list. My personal opinion, if you can drive safely in the islands you can survive anything!! :D Hope this helps. You must be getting excited for your departure ;) ;).

(**Exchange agreements exist between Ontario and: other Canadian provinces and territories, Canadian Forces Europe, U.S.A., Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Germany, Isle of Man, Japan, Korea, Northern Ireland and Switzerland).

p.s. some of the Consulates here in Canada (for some countries) can also provide the letters of authentication, but always phone first and confirm. I know the T&T consulate in Toronto does them for T&T residents.

Wow awesome! Thanks. I was so worried he would have to start all over. So that's good he can at least get G2.
I agree lol. Once you can survive driving down there, you can drive anywhere! Just gotta learn the road rules.

I'm excited for my trip. 3 more days. Plus it's getting kinda chilly here so perfect getaway. Is your hubby ready for the cold?

You are most welcome my dear, I just added a p.s. to that post so make sure you see that as well! I have no idea how my man will react to the cold weather :D. All I know is that there will be some serious cuddling going on this winter ;).....lol

Prayers been a' comin' all week for Miss D.'s & Dadzin's interviews tomorrow. We lift them up with joy and blessings and anticipate their victories! Amen!

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7, NIV)

Best wishes and prayers to the interviewees tomorrow! I know that you'll all come through in flying colors.

Am back home in Canada after my trip... Today was not one of my best. We're always the weakest in terms of sadness these next few days after returning from a visit. Living like this is so disheartening, especially when you need to put on a happy face to your acquaintances and coworkers.
