hello all,

im new to this blog and was looking at all the information you guys all posted. I was wondering how this immigration process works with POS and any additional insight you guys can provide to me. My husband's in Guyana and we have recently started the process.

We have an ongoing relationship since we were 15 and 17. Had long distance issues as expected with that age but have managed to get back on track with the relationship.

Time line so far:
March 29/13 - married - somehow Guyana lost our marriage certificate -__- not surprised, wouldn't reissue it until I went back to Guyana so ended up going back in May.. and had to pay extra sighs.
June 3/13 - Got marriage certificate
June 6/13 - filled out all the papers
July 17/13 - Received hubby's medical report, police check and visa pictures; sent file to CPC Mississauga. We went in everything listed on the document checklist, pictures, letters from when we were 15 he kept, text messages I screenshot and put onto word
July 18/13 - file received CPC Mississauga
Aug 6/13 - file sent back to me cause I missed his signature somewhere ugh could kill myself
Aug 7/13 - sent file back with the missing one signature
Aug 8/13- file received by CPC Mississauga

welcome ....our experts will be with you shortly... thank you for your patienes... plz hold
thank you for making it P.O.S, where you'll #gonuts

@millslu thank you for a warm welcome..
our relationship is literally very simple
(1) he's never been here, no criminal records in Guyana, owns his own businesses
(2) no deportation or removal orders
(3) no children
(4) married since march 29, 2013
just simple teenagers meeting randomly and end up falling for each other and going through the typical young and long distance problems. We got back together last year and I started to the whole lets start this process but we fought long and hard cause he didn't want to come here but I won the battle. Now i'm looking at this timeline thinking wow (last CIC update July 2013). I go to Guyana every 3 -4 Months - December 2012, March - April 2013, May - June 2013 now back again end of Aug.
Has anyone tried to apply for a visitors visa while the PR one is processing?

@louisfam that actually made me laugh but I know your serious I have heard POS is the slowest for processing applications but at the same time also heard people have gotten through very quickly.

wow thanks @kaib your timeline looks good dosnt seem you will have any trouble with CIC, and congrats on your recent wedding, and also on you winning your battle with him hahaa. yes and i would recommend applying for a visitors visa he looks like he has a really good chance of getting one, since he has his own business and he has never been to canada that is a plus. i think a few of the member did apply for a visitors visa and maybe in awhile they will show up and give you some advice on how you can go forward with it.

@millslu I hope not when I got the package back yesterday I wanted to shoot myself one signature but lucky me when we filled out the applications we did 2 copies and the other copy had the signature I needed so it literally went right back. It just was frustrating cause they looked at it, like their physical hands. haha thanks on the battle were still battling over it but at least we started. I'm going to give a shot on the visitors visa would definitely ease the traveling stress on me when I come back in Sept.
- we tried to open a bank account jointly in Guyana but they gave me such a hard time cause I am not a citizen so were trying to find ways to go around that
- he has property as well and my name is being added to the transport which hopefully fingers crossed we will get reissued in Aug when I go.

Welcome Kiab! Regarding the visitors visa (TRV) while going through PR application, you are free to go ahead and try as it won't have any negative impact on the PR application. However, the chances of it being approved are slim to none. The fact that his wife is in Canada will be seen as an intention to stay beyond 6 months. Not having been to Canada before will not help with the TRV application - in fact, if he's never been to Canada or traveled to other countries, that is often cited as a reason for refusal. People who fare best in these cases are those who have been issued TRVs in the past and proven that they left the country before their time was up. Owning his own business does establish ties to Guyana, but in this case since he obviously has plans to immigrate permanently to Canada, it won't help.

@Zouk Princesse he has travelled to other countries mainly in the Caribbean.. hes been to TNT of course, were going to Barbados in august I want to try but at the same time I feel like TNT is already slow to begin with.

As the saying goes... Out with the old and in with the new... Unfortunately Millslu, that's means your time is up!! You are the old guy around here... i vote to sacrifice YOU! Wait... Maybe we won't sacrifice you though because you post lots!

Hi Behopeful, I like this option as well :P!

I agree. Send it now before they start working on it in-depth so that all the info is in there when a senior office reviews it. Send flight itinerary, etc for planned upcoming trip with a cover letter explaining you are going to visit. You have quite a bit of on-going relationship proof there.

Hi Can-Vinc, I second, third and 4th all of the above advice :)
