Greeting forum family,

Admirable we got our approval letter from CIC yesterday and my hubby has sent off our papers for his approval from Quebec and my CSQ...I'm happy that I did not have to wait 2 weeks as they said. He was approved by Federal canada on Jan 11th,. If we had gotten the first letter things would have moved along much faster. We will just wait now and see if POS moves fast.
Good luck to those still waiting..I'm hoping you see some movement soon too Admirable

Hi to all, I have been a silent lurker for a few months now.

I am not married yet...will be getting married in the summer. I want to begin the sponsorship process as soon as I am married though

I have been going through the forms and the first question is 'when was the first time you met your sponsor' and describe it. Well how would I answer that if I have known him since I knew of my existence, we grew up in the same community and we have been friends for life??

Hi Everyone, I am new here, and we just got refused. I am looking for some help.

I applied Common-law and application was refused by Port of Spain. My partner (sponsor) is currently in Toronto right now

Outland application refused, should we get married and reapply outland, should I go to Canada and live with my sponsor and apply or should I appeal?

I have a valid visitor visa will I have problems traveling?

Good Morning Forum Fam

A warm welcome to the newbies onboard with us. :)

@ SexySpice Sorry to hear about your refusal. Were you denied without being called for an interview? To qualify for common-law and conjugal you must have lived together consecutively for an entire year. Did you atleast fulfill this requirement? Conjugal and common-law relationships also require more evidence and documentation. Being that your visa is valid, you should not have any issues traveling to CA in Aug. I think you should get married and re-apply rather than going through with an appeal. POS is such a slow office most of the time and based on the past, an appeal can take 2+ years.

Also, can you kindly share your timeline with us going through the POS office? The link is located at the end of this post (Signature Box)

@ Blessed1 The same thing you stated on here, you can state on the form. Make copies of everything you submit to CIC.

The scenario is that my partner and I are older adults we have children in their 20s, my youngest boys are 18 and 20 this year (not his children). We applied common law because we are both newly divorced, myself I had been separated for almost 14 years but just got divorced prior to starting the sponsorship, myself and my partner, the sponsor have been together in a relationship for about 6 years, and lived together for 2 years, problem is proof of cohabitation is hard to come by on the island because I have owned my house for almost 15 years alone, and all my bills etc come in my name, my partner hardly received mail here and the houses dont have street numbers so immigration questioned that and didnt believe me, so our mail just says the village and the parish.

Based on the age of my boys, should I appeal or should I reapply.

We have valid Visa's and would like to attend my daughter's wedding in Aug.

Timeline was actually quite fast, applied June 2011, aor Sept 2011, Interview request Dec 2011 I received an interview in Jan 7 2012 and the interview went bad as she wanted more proof of our common law status and we are unable to provide additional proof, what should be my next step.

My partner (sponsor) is currently in Toronto seeking medical attention and I was hoping to be there ti support him.

If that is the case then one step you could take is to get affidavits from persons of authority who know that your spouse resided with you during the period. Say, for example, a JP, or your minister if you attended church together, someone like that. Also, if he is there seeking medical attention, his hospital records must record his local address. My husband got medical attention in Jamaica, and one thing we submitted was a copy of his receipts and his card docket, which show his home address, which is mine.
