@ BrianGuyana Did you receive AOR from POS or just a letter requesting interview? How about E-Cas updates? Would love for you to post your timeline on your profile.

That's fine Admirable, i just wanted to see if you have to wait a long time more seeing u send in some more doc recently. Anyways no news is good news sometimes.

Hey everyone!! Finally a Caribbean forum anyways I have been reading through tons of post on this forum and I'm sure some of you have even seen some of my post....I am fairly new here and My bf and I are thinking about sponsorship via common law route but I am very scared from reading many post here.........So please feel free to offer any advice you have

Welcome Champion D. Don't be scared we are all here to support each other. It may be a short or long journey but it will be worth it. Make sure you have enough proof that you have been living for one year together. Common-law couples tend to have to provide more evidence.

Hello Everyone

@KS232 AORs are to be sent out 90 days after file xfer to VO. POS has a processing time of 15mths (80% of cases). Some files are processed faster....and some slower.

Thanks everyone I feel so comfy here .......so just to give u guys a little information on my "situation" in progress..........I was admitted here as a student then after my studies I met my bf in february 2011 we dated for about 7 months before moving in together....then we finally did on august 1 2011........we will be considered common law in august 1 2012 but i intend on waiting an extra month befor submitting our app. I know I am nowhere near ready to apply but I just want to make sure I have everything correct. So far for evidence we have tons and tons of calls, bbm's a few pics, one or two postcards and our parents are ready to give an attestation....also I am vry good friends with some of his family as I knew them prior to knowing him......that being said is there anything else in terms of evidence thatu think I can give to prove our relationship is genuine..............

Joint bank accts.....credit cards....insurance....Try combining your finances a whole lot.
Lease in both of your names, mail addressed to both of you, bills in both your names.

We do have our lease in our names, we have a joint bank account, I just applied for a credit card for him in my acct, insurance I have to wait until we are common law to be added to his insurance......but life insurance is fine......for finances sice I cannot work he is the provider for us so how do you suggest I combine mour finances when I hardly have any?

Champion D, the evidence you have so far are great. Combining finances not only mean the income.....it also means the expenses. If you're financially dependent on your partner, show this. If he gives you an allowance of $500, show this. Joint ownership of properties is also an excellent evidence. Joint purchases as well.Commonlaw sponsorships have more to prove compared to that of spousal sponsorships. Nevertheless, you're on the right track. Btw, the declarations from family and friends attesting your commonlaw status have to be notarized. Get your landlord to also write you a notarized declaration.

My spouse and I are also going throught the common law route
Are you both living in St. Vincent now, or in Canada? Also, are you going to be the sponsor, or your partner? The reason I ask is I beleive if you are going to sponsor your partner I think you need to be working (anyone correct me if Im wrong)..... but if you are being sponsored no worries!

All that is different with the marriage route is we had to send in more evidence that we are in a commited relationship, but not married. We sent in tons of photos, letters, cards, family and friends wrote letters for us that they believe our relationship is genuine, he is my beneficiary on 2 of my insurance plans, he is on my medical insurance, also we have credit cards and bank accounts together, as well we are both on our lease. Anything you can think of that is going to show your relationship is true and genuine (even if you think it doesnt matter) send it in

If you have any questions about the common law thing, or questions about the paperwork, let us know, we are all here to help and, I know if I knew about this forum when I was completing my paperwork it would have been a HUGE help!!!

@Admirable....are you sure the letters from friends and family have to be notarized? When completing our paperwork we never saw anything that said that.....oops if it did I guess.....

Hey LD, I've read on this forum that notarized declarations are required for common law sponsorships. For spousal sponsorships notarized declarations are not required. Being that you submitted tons of evidence from family and friends, I won't say to notarize all of them. 4-6 maybe. The VO may not even request notarized evidence so no worries. My hubby and I did not submit letters or cards from family and friends in our app and it wasn't requested. I believe Champion D is doing an outland app but she is in CA.

Hey Ld Waiting Happy Tuesday I am the one being sponsored and we are living together in Canada........my life insuranceis in St. Vincent.....should I get a nw one here or just add him as my old beneficiary..........this forum is sooo excellent happy I found it before I even send in my app!!!

@ Champion D - I would check with your insurance plan to make sure you are still covered as you are out of that country now....you know how sicky insurance companies can be sometimes lol.....If you are covered out of the country add him for sure! And your partner should be doing the same for you as well. Also, another thing I just thought of, I have a retirement plan (investments) that he is also my beneficiary on.....maybe look into something like that as well Welcome again, and good luck!!!

Thanks LD Waiting..........OMG I just called my phone company to get my phone records and the cannot go beyond the 90 days :'( which is sooo important and he does not have caller id so all I see on his bill is incoming call!!! Now I dunno what to do or how I'm going to prove to immigration that we spoke for that amount of time
