Sorry i did not see your timeline was on your profile...

Question: My husband and I got married in August in Barbados and I came back to Canada. My husband is Guyanese but has been living in Barbados for the last 10 years. Of his time spent in Barbados, he only had a work permit for the last 5. Is the VO going to look at the fact that he came into the country and didnt work and then he will do that in Canada?

No, not going through Quebec. Will be in Ontario. Here's hoping that PoS gets a move on so that we can all join our loved ones soon.
I'm thinking of visiting the wife for xmas.

@ Bajie I think it's nothing to worry about. He will have to submit police clearances from Barbados, Guyana and any country he lived/visited for 6 mths and more after acquring the age of 18. Besides, applicants from Guyana & Babrbados goes through the POS office. On the application form it asks what he was doing. All he can say is visiting/working. Provide an explanation and copy of the work permit. That would suffice.

Blessed afternoon forum friends.

I'm hoping this process is a speedy for us all. Going to see hubby for xmas as well.

Hello...hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!! My kids and I went to the Santa Claus parade and put up and decorated our xmas tree today.

Tomorrow will make 12 days since our MPs office contacted Ottawa to get some answers on the delay for hubbys background checks. They are supposed to have some kind of news for me....fingers and toes crossed for anything at all!!

I look forward to it! Thanks!

Admirable, CandyB

Thank you both. As promised, Hubby's arrival was smooth no hiccups at all other than the realization once he clear customs he bought no goodies from Trinidad with him (guess I will have to get the good stuff carnival time :-) The overall process was a mere 20 minutes. I would advise though (As I had this very issue once I landed) if there are any errors on your landing papers its follows you so if you have the time to get it corrected you should or wait until you've landed and get it situated here. Hubby only had to correct the mailing address on the form since they recorded the atty's address and not our home address. When I received my papers my DOB was recorded backwards example 01/02 is Jan 2nd in the US but can be easily confused for Feb 1 in Canada. I landed with the error on the COPR which was a pain since I had to keep that error on my drivers license,PR, SIN, bank records etc. What I thought was an easy fix took 5 months and you had to return the original COPR which was returned with a formal letter from CIC. When it was returned I then went back to each place and had it corrected.

His 1st order of business as a landed immigrant was additional furniture from the Brick and a GPS:-) We are meticulous in planning so we have mapped out what needs to be done in the next two weeks so he could concentrate on job hunting. He has already opened an account with TD, gotten his SIN number, and beginning to realize that you don't have to say good morning to EVERY person that you pass.....hee hee they are likely to keep it moving...
