cruises30,
once the individual has been approved as a sponsor, then the case processing centre in Mississauga (CPC-M),
tranfers the file to the country that will be handling the permanent residence application. Like in my case, I was approved
as a sponsor of my spouse and CPC-M, tranferred the permanent application to Trinidad for processing via mail.

cruises30,
so the next communication from POS will be in the form of a letter, informing you that they
have received the file, and that they will start processing soon, it's called an AOR. I suppose it means,
acknowlegement of receipts, the other can correct me if I am wrong. An AOR should be expected about
one and a half to two months after the file has been transferred.

@ Cruise: You did the right thing with meds and PCC upon submitting the entire application. Depending on well you have prepared your case it can work in favor of you, meaning, they can easily call for Passport and issue the visa because your meds are already up to date. If or when your hubby gets his AOR letter from the POS office they will give him a 10 digit Immigration File number that he will thenceforth use to get in contact with the office regarding anything case related. Sometimes you do not get the AOR letter.

I can't vent for the TT Postal system but I know in Guyana it's worse than a snail at work. At times you have to call them to ask if there is anything in your name. The VO doesn't really give a darn if you get that letter or not. They will acknowledge that they send it but don't care when it reaches you. For them, it's just a job and they don't really care how smooth it rolls for them as long they get paid for doing their job. Your letter can be late and pass deadlines they give you. They can most likely opened a window of opportunity and give you more time to send the document or issue you a letter stating they can close your file if you don't give them what they want. It happens in very rare cases.

Don't stress too much. It'll soon come to an end for you. I can't say not to let those gray hairs become more visible because I am only in my 20s and I think since this long, drawn out process with CIC started for me my grays just can't stop showing. I think by my early 30s I will be salt and pepper :(

@ HONEY, it's on CIC's website. Follow the instructions under "Contact Us".

BIG CONGRATTSSSSS MANCRAB. I am so happy that it's finally over for you. For sure we know POS is working their rarse on these applications. Some fast, some slow but the end result is very rewarding. Best of luck to you and the wifey on spending your lives together as a happily married couple in Canada or wherever you choose :)

@ Canuck, you are too funny man. I bet dem CCs are running dry. Who doesn't love shopping when the stash is there :D

Hope everyone else is doing super!

Thanks to all for your speedy responses to my questions.

@confused - I'm only 34 yrs old, and grey hair at an early age runs in my family. But this stress is certainly not helping. lol

I sure hope that the Postal system in TT goes in our favour. I would really hate for that one piece of letter to go missing :(

Have a great weekend everyone :)

Good Morning everyone!

I hope you all had a good weekend. Not sure if any of you are feeling the same way, but i'm feeling really down today. Missing my hubby something fierce.

The worse feeling in the world is not having control over a situation and letting someone else be the decider of your future. But i know in the end he will be with me.

sending out positive vibes to everyone!

Congratulations again to all of you who have recently heard good news from POS. January will make 10 months since our sponsorship was approved and sent to Trinidad. I find it interesting how Guyanese applications are taking so long to process lately. . .

Confused, maybe you and I will hear something in that first batch of VISAs going into Guyana. . . :p

Welcome newbies!!! :D

Goodmorning forum family,
another wonderful day waking up in Georgetown, Guyana ;D

How are you all? Alil info at my end, my Hubby receieved a letter from Port Of Spain requesting him to redo his medical and send in Passport to Georgetown which will forward it onto Port Of Spain thence in 2-4weeks he will than be informed what the final decision is... Is that normal? I thought by requesting passport, they made a final decision already... Plus in the letter, they mention that he had to be in Canada by July 21st 2011 the latest...

BTW, our fingers are crossed, we are happy already.. Within 8months things seem to be moving.. But I must say, Port Of Spain is ALWAYS full with surprises, since my approval from Canada in May and file being transfered to Port Of Spain, we NEVER heared back a word about our application until this month; no answers to our emails, calls, and fax.... VERY SCARY!

Please share your opinions with me..

wow you got through in record time! thats like 7 months processing time to your request for passport.
I got the same letter as well. I think its standard. But I did not have to redo my medicals. Usually his date to be in Canada is the date his medical expires or i think 1 month before passport expires. So port of spain was working over christmas!lol. Congrats. I dont think you have anything to worry about. They never responded to an email i sent last week and I have never ever been able to log on to e-cas. So go figure!

I'm hoping to get a lil advice, especially from those who have recently made it through the process. I keep reading about files that are "straightforward" tend to get through faster.

@CDNGirl and @honey......was your files pretty straightforward?

My situation in a nut shell is like this....I've been married once before. My husband has never been married but has 3 children that are in the care of their mother. They WON't be accompanying him to Canada. He has worked on the Royal Caribbean Cruise ship for the last 8 yrs, so he's pretty much gone for most of the year (7months at a time). I also have one child. My husband has never had any criminal records/arrests etc. He has a clean record. He also did his medical and we submitted everything with the package (medical and police certificate). I have a decent paying job and have had no issues either. Just normal situation. We met, fell in love and got married and now just waiting to be together.

In your humble opinion, would this sound like a "routine" case? Or will we have issues because i've been married before and there are childeren....

Any advice or help is always appreciated....

:)

Crusies, just like Honeybird said; we both have straightforward cases, both with no kids, no previous marriage, no criminal records etc etc.

Since your case has alot more individuals in the background of both your's and your spouse's, your case would most definitely take abit longer.

Never the less, don't give up the processing time for Port of Spain is now 15months are you within that timeline?
