HI Mancrab,
Thank you for your very kind words of encouragement.
At first I was a bit excited when you got your approval, expecting to see mines in the mail.
However about 2 weeks has passed and I have now settled into the idea that mine is going to take a bit longer.
So! I thought about it, and I realised that there are many things about my relationship that makes it very unique. My hubby and I are of different race, religion, culture, country and even his parents were not able to make it to the wedding. Plus as you would recall I submitted additional information. So maybe all these things slowed it down.
But I keep pludding on and continue to save all my information so that when the time comes again in March for my second BFD I would probably send in some more information. or if i have an interview, I will submit.
Through the last couple of months my hubby has actually unearthed msn messages from 2008, so i am building a very strong case compared to the meagre evidence i had submitted before.
this process has thought me alot. Because I believed my relationship to be true, I did not bother to go the extra mile to PROVE its true. I really did think, you just have to submit some info and the paperwork would go through. I did not realise how much or how hard immigration officers are coming down on applicants because of the abuse of the system. My approach was too simlplistic. lol.
Anyways I am just going to enjoy maragarita, if it comes through early next year, I have discussed wiht my husband, finishing my contract work with the Government since I also get a bonus payment of 20% of my base salary for the 24months I worked. It would be good to take me through 6-9 months if i dont have a job in Canada when i finally move up. I wish you all the best and have a great chrismtas!

Heyyyy everyone.

I am so stuck in the middle of preparing for the holidays. Wasn't going to do anything but my mom insisted that we do something so I am trapped in the centre of everything.

Hope everyone's doing great and Happy Holidays :D

UPDATE...................

I received the brown envelope on Friday in the mail and I had to express mail it to my husband so he can go and retake the medical and
send off his passport. What is kind of strange remember how I told you that they told me that they mailed the documents to my rep
on Nov 2 well that was a lie they did not mail anything..... My rep called me and they received the documents on Thursday and mine which was re-sent came in the next day...(how convenient) And the letter that my rep got has the Nov date type on it but the letter I got they hand written the date of Dec on it... To be playing with people's file like that...how wrong.....

YAYYYYYY Faith .... so happy for you right now :D :D :D

So, does this mean he has to send in his PP right after he's finished taking his medicals or will they send another PPR letter in mail for him? I am a bit confused here.

They put two documents with the letter one where we has to put with his passport and pay for them to send it back to him. and another to
to give the doctor. So next week he will go to the doctor and then after send off his passport with a passport picture the letter they sent and the
receipts from the doctor. The letter says to give them two week for them to receive the medical.

Hi everyone, i got my letter for passport and 2 passport photos two days ago.
it was a tramatic experience, my sister opened the letter and was textin me bits and pieces as i was in a meeting and could not leave.
my hubby cried, i vomited (after the meeting of course) and the dust is finally settled. my parents took a while to come around to it as the letter said i have until June 11 (my medical date) to go to canada.
soooooo i am off to margarita tomorrow and the passport will be dropped in January.
I resigned my job, but i have a month to work out as per my contract.
Hubby is coming home tonight :)
So things are all good for me right now.
I am a mixture of emotions..i am feeling so funny in my belly with the drama. I got a migrane yesterday just thinking about all the stuff...

So i am hoping by the end of January to be in Canada. :)

BTW so the additional info didi not slow us down cause I noticed that the letter that was send was a day after my brought forward date. BTW when i sent in my nbfd reminder form i also inclused a nice chirstmas card to my VO and i also translated it in french. I dont know if that had an effect or what.

Hello everyone,

This is the first time i've done anything like this, but in reading everyone's posts I feel very encouraged to join this forum.

I am from Canada. I met my husband on a Cruise. He actually works on a Cruise Ship. He is a resident of Trinidad and Tobago. Below are the details of where i am at so far.

File sent to Mississauga: November 22nd, 2010
Approved to sponsor on: December 20th, 2010
File sent to P.O.S. for processing on December 21, 2010

Now i'm waiting........

I am so nervous about this whole process. Just wondering if anyone could help answer the below questions:

-My husband is still working on the cruise ship overseas. Does the Visa office always contact you by letter? Or would they ever contact you by phone or email?
-Once they contact you for an interview, how long do you have before you must go in?
-What do i expect at this point? How long before i receive a letter from POS?

My husband is not sure when he should quite his job. He doesn't want to miss any letters/phone calls etc. We feel the best thing to do is for him to be in Trinidad just in case they need anything from him.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Good luck to everyone still waiting. :)

Welcome, welcome, welcome Cruises30

I think you have come to the right place or I should say the right website for tons of help regarding immigration matters in your category.

Congrats on getting the application process started. Takes a huge headache off our shoulders once we get them in.

Would you mind sharing a little more about your story, how long you have known hubby, any previous marriages, etc. Anything that may result in a delay or an interview.

From what I have gathered, majority of the applicants in this forum have had their correspondence from POS via mail. Only one applicant I knew of in here had contact via email but nothing is ever set in stone. I think the standard procedure is for them to contact you via regular mail so it'll be a good start that your hubby has a permanent mailing address in TnT.

If contacted for an interview, you are usually given ample time to prepare for the interview, mostly anywhere between 3-6 or more months.

Since your file has been sent to POS on Dec 21, you should give them about 2-3 months after that date to get a letter which is called Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) where they will first initiate a 10 digit B file number which will be used to make contact with the office. Sometimes they letters are mailed and sometimes they are not, all depending on the IO who is reviewing the application.

There really isn't nothing much you can do right now but wait to hear from the VO on their next step/s in processing. If in the meantime you can gather more evidence to prove your rship genuine you can send that stuff in at an early stage.

Keep in mind that processing for the POS office is about 15-17 months. You can either hear from them sooner or later but this is just an estimated time they take to process all spousal applications as per their last stats on their website.

Your hubby should continue working and live a normal life since this is only the beginning stages of your application processing. I wouldn't recommend he quits his job and thinks it'll be over and done with in 2-3 months. Visas are usually valid for 6 months after they have been issued so he will have enough time to deal with his employment, etc in POS.

Good Luck and do keep us posted :)

Hello again and thank you for the warm welcome! :)

I've know my husband for over 2 years now. I have been previously married. I have one child and he has 3 children. None of his children will be accompanying him to Canada.

As mentioned I met him on a cruise ship while cruising with my girlfriend. He is currently still working overseas on a 7 month contract. It's really tough having a long distance relationship plus this on top of things, but what do you do when you love somebody -you do what it takes.

I suggested to my hubby to put in his notice just in case the VO needs him for anything, like additional pictures or an updated police certificate. It would be impossible for him to do those things while still working on the ship. I feel like we are stuck between a rock and a hard place. I'd hate for him to quit his job and steady income to just go back to Trinidad and sit and wait but i feel we have no choice. I don't want anything to happen where the file gets delayed.

I was told by Immigration in Canada that if you are called for an Interview that you have only 2 weeks to come in person.

I sure hope we are one of the lucky ones and get through fast, all i can do is hope and pray.

Thanks for your advise! :)

cruises30 I really do not think its a good idea that your husband quits is job because nothing is going to happen to your file for atleast 3 month. For right now your file is stored and it will be reviewed and the end of the three months which takes you to the end of March/11. Immigration wants to know during that course how is you guys are communicating. As for if an interview is required you will be given a date and they will give you some time at least two month notice. My husband got a letter in Around June/10 notifiying that his interview was scheduled for Aug/10. And in the letter they state that you should not give up employment or make any travel arrangements. The income that your husband makes now will take some financial stress off of you because it is not easy to support your husband and kids on one income alone. Trust me and I am in a good paying job. because I am going through that right now. So just be patient you can also check your status on line. As well keep communicating with your husband I know its not easy but it will be worth it once the journey is over. Good Luck. and keep the Faith.

OH, if the POS need anything you will be notified in writting and they do give time for you to send it in or if their is an interview required they will tell you to bring it for the interview.

POS really does not like contacting through phone because they like to record everything the address you put on the application that is the address they will send the letter out to. for both yours and his You can even make your address the point of contact to where all mails be sent. But dont worry I know it can be fustrating at times.............
