hi everyone!! sorry for my English cauz i am french loool

I start the sponsoring for my conjugal Partner and his son in 25 feb 2013. i sent all file. They receive all at mississauga and sent all to trinidad and start the traitment in 8 march 2013 ..during that i apply the CSQ (special paper of quebec) AND THEY ACCEPT and say i can sponsoring my man..time pass i recieve the CSQ from Québec and tell the information to CIC at Trinidad... MY Status on the site of CIC say they receive medical examan and all in process..time pass again no news until 7 sept 2013.. cic reply to my man and say they confirm they receive the file after no news. ITS almost 7 months WE WAIT and its hard.....
no interview yet...nothing....
Bonjour éloveutsavoir and welcome to the Port of Spain (POS) thread. Please do not apologize for your English, I am sure it is much better than the little bit of French I can speak :D! When you say all in process do you mean that your ecas says "in process" and do you mean under your partner's UCI number? Can you confirm this? If so, that is good news.

Also you mentioned he received an e-mail on Sept. 7th confirming that POS received his file. That sounds like the AOR and the next step is usually "in process". If this is the case then it seems like you will be hearing again soon. For those of us who went to "in process" on ecas from POS it usually means the interview is waived (not required) and you are near the end of the process. Blessings.

Hi MsRuby, Miss D. gave you a great link; however, do not stress if your package does not look exactly like that. For sure, do the forms online as the bar codes speed up processing. Also if you can pay all the fees up front and online, do it, one less item to leave in POS hands for follow up. No staples, use paperclips.

You can do either with the photos, I had multiple sets of our wedding photos as I knew we would have to send one with our app. but for some prior years, I just did colour photocopies. Actually we did not even have a camera for the 1st 3 years of our relationship so I only submitted about 40-50 photos in total and it is important to label or write on the back, who is who.

I also created a word document with a selection of SKYPE messages and e-mails (copy and paste) some from every month we were together to show progression, and details of SKYPE call durations, which I highlighted. Because we have been together 6 years I thought including every single thing would make an unwieldy application (for them and us!!) and I said so in my explanation paragraph that I included at the beginning of the word document.

I did not include any phone bills as we have used calling cards for 6 years and they do not accept used calling cards anyway and most people dispose of them. Again I explained this in my application. I think the most important thing is to explain the rationale behind any decisions i.e., we did not honeymoon as we did not have the time or the funds and used that money on the medical and immigration fees!! :p Of course I had all of my travel documents from every trip, all receipts, all visa bills etc. but aside from the word document I did not include any additional pages and answered all questions in the space they provided on the application. Which is to say I was unusually succinct. Do not send original cards, if they want to see originals they will ask and you do not want to send keepsakes that you may or may not get back.

In my application I told them that I had 6 years worth of everything and I would send them more if they wanted. They obviously didn't though so that was great! Blessings.
Thank you Cdnandtrini!! You guys are a blessing! I'm taking screen shot from my phone to have all the tips at my finger tips. This thread is moving fast, I don't want to be combing thru and loosing important advice.

Hello,

No, not everyone gets an interview. Interview is usually only if the officer has questions to see if your relationship is genuine or if you meet the criteria to be granted the type of visa you applied for.

In your case, conjugal visa is a very hard one to get because many officers say you could have married but chose not to (could have visited each other and married). You may require an interview to talk about this and to prove that you could not marry... but for now, let's keep our fingers crossed that all goes smoothly.

Agreed! None of us can tell you if an interview is needed. Every application, relationship and officer reviewing the application is different therefore none of us know the answer for sure.
As MissD mentioned since you're applying via the conjugal route, your application will need to prove why you COULDN'T either be common law or married. An example of conjugal applications that are approved are for people who are from countries where divorce is not legal and are in a next relationship. This is common for people of the Philippines.
You know your file though and trust you've done your best presenting your relationship. All will work out. Unfortunately POS VISA office doesn't communicate much with you during this process, so patience is a virtue and they will be in contact when they need something!!

You are most welcome my dear ;). And don't worry about losing advice, you can usually find things if you search in the main thread for family sponsorship. When do you think you will be able to submit your application? I am not familiar with the FBI clearance timelines. Blessings.

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has any suggestions/advice on banking between Canada/Caribbean. Hubby will be maintaining some property there along with some other obligations and we will need to be able to transfer funds, conduct some financial transactions and ideally have online access. We tried a few years ago as Scotiabank is in Trinidad and Canada but it was useless as their "systems" do not connect or "talk" to each other.

If anyone has any ideas, please elaborate! :D Blessings.

As soon as the FBI clearance comes back. Fingers cross, I hoping 1st or 2nd week of December. The end of Novemver will be the 6 weeks mark. Most people say its between 6-8 weeks.

Ok that's good, you should be able to send it off before the new year then! Then the waiting really begins ;).

We tried Scotiabank too, but we were told the same thing. We didn't find much help! Let me know if you figure anything simple out! Hubby has put the trust in his brother so I hope that works out! I'm sure it will be fine but something without the middle man would be better.

Totally understand Behopeful......it would be nice to have some privacy as a couple after showing our bums and everything else to immigration!! :p We are going to try RBC and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). I will let you know how/if it pans out. Blessings.
