Hey Half moon! Good to have you hear :) It definitley is quite at POS! I too am hoping for that 5 months :) My mom spoke to her neigbour in Canada who is an Immigration Judge and she said we probably wont hear anything before March but will be home for summer. I sure do hope so! I am trying to figure out if I should head back to Canada in February but I dont want to leave my husband and then it take another 8 months before I see him again! Decisions decisions. Its so difficult to plan things when you really have no clue what the timeline is (besides 15months).
Hi inlimbo2012!! Thank you!!

Well my advice is to take it one day at a time and see how you'll feel closer to the date. Go with what your spirit guides you to do but also make sure it wouldn't impact your responsibilities back home....ie if you have a job that needs you back in Canada. Need to keep the $ flowing 8)

Remember, this process is just a moment in time, you and yours have the rest of your lives together. Just "endure" and you'll succeed in the long run. Like a race, without endurance you can't make it to the end!!

GUESS WHAT??!!! My husband has an interview in Trinidad January 17th 10am :) :) :) I guess we woke them up! My immigration consultant sent us a list of documents to bring and about 3 pages of questions to brush up on. Any advice would be great! Where we should stay, how to dress, anything really. Hoping everyone else receives great news too. Do you know if they issue the visa right then or would we have to leave and then send our passports?

Have I mentioned how excited I am! :)

They asked us to bring the following:
1. Valid Passports and birth certificates for my husband, his son and myself
2. Copies of the signature/identification page of the mother of his son as well as a copy of her national id
3. Original marriage certificate/divorce certificate
4. Any additional information we would like to submit to prove our relationship (additional photos, letters etc)

We dont have any other information to submit so I am not sure why they are telling us we can submit additional information. I wonder if it is just protocol? I am getting a few more lettesr written from family friends, school enrollment papers for my step son, photos of where we will be living and a few additional photos taken since June. Besides that I dont know what more I could bring! They have everything already.

Good morning POS forum. I'm baccccccck!

Inlimbo2012, would I be wrong to assume that you currently live with your husband? If so, any type of agreements, such as rental, banking, insurance, leases, with both your names on it can be used as additional proof. If you are in Canada and he is in his home country, additional emails to eachother, phone records, skype, fb, flight stubs, hotel stay could be used. Photos are great!

When meeting with the visa office, dress respectfully and professionally as you're meeting with a government offiicial. Men should were a button up shirt, dress pants (belt at the waist not knees lol), dress shoes, face should be clean and trim. Smile, be pleasant, no shouting matches please! I say this in all seriousness because you'd be surprised that there have been ppl who walk up into the office and act like "Don Dadda - bad mon a run tings". Get the drift? No Joke. Don't know what ppl are thinking sometimes. SMH.

From the documents they're asking you to submit at the interview, looks like they will ask about timelines, divorce dates, birthdates, current relationship between you and your husband and his dissolved relationship with his son's mother. They are trying to ascertain original documents and make sense of your family situation.

There's a thread that shares a list of questions that may be asked. Will post when I find it.

Other than that, prepare prepare prepare. Everything will be alright.... Best of luck to you both.

Hi MissDominca!!

This is simply "my opinion" however I don't think you need to send in additional documents unless requested or convoked for an interview. Often times, we just want to have some "communication" or "sign of life" from the office however I say before submitting additional proofs, send them an email inquiry to:

A) Find out when you can expect an AOR and

B) Advise them that you have additional proofs (flights, photos, phone bills, etc) since the application was submitted and that you'd be more than happy to submit. If they feel that what you've provided is sufficient, they'll likely respond and say "no further action is required by you at this time".

8)
