Good Morning Forum Fam,

Oooohhhh a newbie!!!! Welcome MissDominica. You've certainly come to the right place.
We have composed a spreadsheet entailing information of our timelines going through the POS office as well as updates we have received from this office.
http://goo.gl/QQw3i
There's lots of info on this forum so knock yourself out.

I had my interview in Grenada. (My VO flew in for the interview). It was at Grand Beach Resort. MY VO sat behind a desk across from me. Some folks have had their interviews at the embassy in POS. Trini777 can hopefully shed some light on the ambience and setting at the embassy.

You can also check out my old posts to get a basic idea of my experience at the interview and also dealing with this office.

Here are a list of generic questions you should know.

@ Saka They still travel to the other islands to conduct interviews etc. MY VO travelled to Dominica to conduct interviews before coming into Grenada to do just the same. He mentioned this to me. I believe he went to other islands as well....Martinique included. Grenada was the last stop though before heading back to T&T.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day. I'm still anxiously waiting on word from POS or the return of my pp. I'd prefer my pp though....Hahahahaha!

Blessings to everyone!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Oh wow really? My family wanted to apply for visitors visa and was told that they stopped coming to Dominica for interviews and they would have to mail it. Gonna do some digging.

Wow, that's awesome that they still travel to the other islands for interviews! Of course we're praying we dont have one, but it's definitely a comfort to know that if we do, we won't have to fork over $500 for the flight :)

Hi everybody!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

We will be applying for commonlaw PR through the POS office to live in NS, Canada. I figured we would have to go to POS for the interview, but I guess we will have to see now if they travel here or where they ask us to meet them...

I have been living in Dominica for just over 2 years, came here as a medical student. I have been living with my fiance since May 1 of 2011. I haven't filed yet.. just waiting to do the medicals, but should be within the next week or so! Exciting and scary, all at once.

Thanks for all the information - and yes, if anyone has any experience interviewing actually in POS, could you tell me what the interview session is like (not necessarily the questions, but just how it's setup - booth, sit-down, formal, short/long interview, etc etc)

Thanks and good luck to everyone on getting your visas this week!

Welcome MissDominica :)

My husband is from St Vincent and had to fly to Trinidad for an interview. At the embassy just on a chair with the VO behind a window lol!

So much movement and people paitiently waiting...thats great to see. Well were still not finished yet. The kids are going 2 redo their meds next week. They (POS) say they want our file completed before my husband medical expires in August. Now a sense of urgency?? Lmao

Thanks Admirable...I don;t understand what the hold up is with your PP return. I'm really hoping you get it back this week. Did they reply to your query?

Hi guys,

First full day for me and already I'm happy for all of your successes and support - such a great feeling!

I have a question as I prepare to send off my PR application (outland, obviously) for my fiance from Dominica. We have been living together as common-law for over a year because I have been a student in Dominica. Now, as part of my requirements to graduate, I must return to Canada/USA to do some clinical rotations (I can also do some in Dominica, thankfully, so I can get a new student to come and see him when I set up those rotations).

My fiance is a student. He went back to complete adult classes when he got laid off from his job last year. As such, his summer vacation from school is coming up and corresponds to the exact time that I must return to Canada because my student visa is over/must begin to schedule rotations (which will start approx Sept, same time as his school resumes). So, it would be amazing if he could come to Canada to meet some of my family that he has not yet met, see the country, etc.

I am worried about 2 things:

1) Because he is a student, he does not have job ties here right now and he's young (24) so does not own a house etc. He has a TON of family here, a minor bank account (joint between 2 of us), a letter from his school saying he is a full-time student and will need to return in Sept 2012 to complete his last few classes (we can even pay the tuition in advance, if that's more proof that he'll come back). I'm worried this will be seen as not enough proof that he will come back AND that he'll be scrutinized even closer since we would be sending a Dual Intent PR application at once. Is it better just to not bother? Can it hurt?

2) If I send a PR and TRP application together, will the TRP only get processed when the PR application does (ie. could be a year, in which case our upcoming summer vacation would be LONG past by then and it is not worth it)? Or do they process them separately? Ie. I could mail my PR application/sponsor application to Canada then they forward it to POS, while I send the TRP application straight to POS to be processed quickly (they can usually do it within a month or 2).

Any insight about this would be great!!! Thanks again for being so welcoming :)

@Bajeinwaiting Nope!!!!!! I wish they would. The last time I spoke to the rep she mentioned to me that everything was fine. She said the refund of RPRF will take about 10 days and that it takes a couple days for them to process the RPRF fees that were paid in Canada. That was 3 and 1/2 weeks ago. I know they got my email b/c I recv'd confirmation. If by next week God's willing still nothing, I will call the office to speak to the rep once again.

@Can4Vincy Get those meds done quickly and 2 weeks after it's sent in, send them a CSE. That way they can mail off those COPR papers to your hubby.

@MissDominica They will be processed separately. You will send the TRP app to POS and the PR app to Mississauga. If you are approved to sponsor him, the file will then be forwarded to POS.
