Hi all

My spouse received her PPR recently and we are planning on her entry around Feb. We haven't sent the passport yet but I started looking for tickets in the mean time.
I have a couple of questions:
1. Will the CoPR and visa be given to us along with the passport back or is it just the visa that is issued?!
2. If CoPR is given along with the passport, are we expected to fly directly to the Port of Entry mentioned in the CoPR or can we fly to any port of entry?!

I live in British Columbia but I got cheaper tickets to Montreal (YUL) from my home city. Can we have that as the port of entry?!

Thanks in advance

1) Depends what passport you are holding
2) Any port of entry.

My spouse holds Indian Passport. A couple of folks told me that flying into YUL (Montreal) might be a problem while landing but any other port of entry should be fine. However, I found some tickets that work in my price range to YUL with a connection to YVR.
So wanted to make sure.

The visa and passport will be returned, of course, along with a printed COPR.

You can fly to and enter at any port of entry, doesn't matter what's on the COPR. If you enter in Quebec (i.e. montreal) advise you are connecting on to other province.

[To clarify, it does matter on COPR that it is correct that your province of destination is Quebec or not Quebec. That needs to be truthful. Port of entry itself does not matter. If you've changed your mind and decided to settle in newfoundland - fine.]

Montreal as port of entry does not matter - just tell them you're travelling on separately to your actual destination. You're not the first to transit through Montreal, which after all the second largest international airport.

Just to clarify, what matters in the CoPR document is the Province of Destination and City of Destination. That has to be correct but Last entered at or Became PR at can be anything.

Province and CIty of destination on COPR basically don't matter either - EXCEPT that PRs coming to settle in Quebec need to have Quebec shown as province of destination.

(Those settling in other provinces entering via Montreal port of entry - no problem, just tell them you are in transit to other province)

Oh one other caveat: province of destination is also important for those on provincial nomination programs, but that's not family sponsorship.
