Poor academic history

Hello, I am an American citizen applying for a study permit. The visa office i am applying to requires i send in previous academic evidence such as transcripts. I did poorly at my previous university, a GPA about 2.0. I applied to a college and got accepted into a Bachelor of Business program. I have a very good academic history at my highschool.
I have more than enough funds to support me while i'm there, and plenty of family ties back to my state.
Will the poor academic history cause refusal of my application?
What are the chances of being accepted

If your GPA is around 2 (2+) on the scale of 4 then you should not face difficulty.

One question, WHY Canada? Why not US?

Visiting Americans (world-wide) are known to return to their home country. On the other hand, for most people (all over the world including Americans), the preferred country of study is the United States. So the fact that you're going out of the way just to study in Canada can make the VO suspicious.

What's your academic standing? If you're over 2.0, I'm guessing you're not on probation. If you've never been suspended (academically) or put on probation, I think you should be good to go. You can simply say "university is not for me, so transferring to a college". Is your university credit a basis for your Canadian college admission? If not, I think you should try applying without your transcripts and see what happens.

WHY DON'T YOU STUDY IN AMERICA? VO will refuse your visa because he will think that your intention to do Business program however business is also available in America better than canada and your intension showing something fishy ... Dude stay in america and continue your education there ...

Don't force your donkey to canada on student visa on any regular and common program....

Cant' say about chances but remember V.O. will not treat your profile as a south asian students.
There is a one case in forum. One member from latin america with 3 year gap secured visa for Diploma course.

where as V.O. always see negatively if asian students have such gap after study.

They treat us as a future immigrant.

You both need to visit IIM and IIT schools in INDIA where you will find many foreign students including north american and europien.
Atleast in Ahmedabad IIM i have seen.

guys US is too expensive thats why they travel to Canada to do the degrees .
