Hi,

I live in Canada with my husband. We were in India for 15 days and My husband applied for police verification from Delhi (He is from delhi) but we came back and the process is still going on. I am from Himachal Pradesh I have received my police certificate already. But now as per the police they need to get it stamped from ministry of external affairs and they are asking for rs 12000 for each. (We know this one person in Police, who is getting it done for us since we are not in India now)

This is the PCC through Delhi local Police station.

This sounds a little fishy to me. I wanted to check if there is any other way without being present in India or may family member could do police verification on behalf of him???? Or can we do it from Canada its self???

One more concern My passport has address from Himachal and I am married now and my husband's passport address is in Delhi.

I have done police verification for my passport address. Is it correct or I need to do it for Delhi Address too?? As I lived there for a year. And now we are living in Canada for one year.

Please help.

Hello Babita,
You are right this is not correct, PCC can be applied and received by any of your member on behalf of you as far as you follow the criteria and you mentioned that they can receive on your behalf.
After having PCC if it is need to have Ministry of external affairs stamp, which is just around 300 rupees per document only. There are several agents in delhi who might charge 1000 rupees and get this done.
May be other members can also quote further to help you.

By the way you can also apply within Canada for sure. Just report to the Indian embassy.

Regards,
