Hello,
A friend just landed in Canada few months ago. Still trying to get a job. Applied for a job but the company requested for his police report. He then went to the police headquarterst to apply for that.
But the police just replied him after a week, saying he should come for finger print to enable them finalize the criminal check.
He has not committed any crime anywhere, expect that he has been told to leave Spain because his visa has expired. Which I think is not a criminal offence. Or is that a criminal offence?
However, is this the procedure? Has anybody out there in this forum, being ask to come for finger print to carry out police criminal check to get a job in Canada?
He is hoping to go for the said finger print soonest, but requested I should help to post this question on his behalf in this noble forum. Please help he is worried. Thanks for your honest and prompt replies as usual.
Regards.

Probably his name matches (or closely matches) someone else in the system so they need his fingerprints to verify his record.

I believe it is not alarming issue, unless finger prints are taken nothing to check against. You must have finger printed for approval of your PR for a police check. At least that happened in may case. I asked the officer and he said the finger print will be checked against a database of records for a match. It will not be saved anywhere. And police clearance is given as no match found and cleared.

Some type of jobs would need police check like if you are going to work with children or elderly or financial companies. That is a routine matter.
