Police Clearance

I've been reading the Guide on Family Sponsorship and I came across the Police Clearance section and it says the following:

When we ask you for police certificates at this stage, you’ll have to submit them for:

  • the country where you currently live, if you have lived there for six months or more; and
  • the country where you’ve spent most of your adult life since the age of 18.

I do not see any problem with the first police clearance but I have been leaving abroad for almost 10 years and only stayed in my home country for just 4 years after my 18th birthday.

My question is, do I need to get a police clearance from my home country or will the police clearance from where I reside now will be sufficient?

You need both. If you have spent time (after turning 18) to multiple countries, then you need to provide PCC for each country. It's frustrating, but that's the way it is.

You will need to provide a police certificate from your home country. Another way to phrase the requirement is “the single country where you’ve spent the most time since turning 18.”

Can anyone be so kind as to confirm that you only have to submit a PCC from the single country where you've spent most time since 18 or from all countries resided for 6 plus months since the age of 18.

Seems to be a lot of confusion around it.

Cheers

Hi thank you for your reply and sorry for the late respone.

I am still confused with your reply.

I left my home country when I was 22 years old and now I am almost 32 years old. So on the part of where I have spent most of my adult life, most of it was out of my home country.

So base on the second sentence of your reply, do I still need to provide the police certificate from my home country even though I did not live there most of my adult life?

Thank you.

For the past ten years, have you been living in the same country or different countries? If you have lived in another country for more than 4 years, that’s the one you need to submit. If you have lived in multiple countries but none more than 4 years (longer than your home country), you need to submit your home country. Does that make sense? Sorry it’s kind of hard to explain!

I've been living in the same country since I left my home country but I do go to other countries for vacations or for business purposes but not more than a month (2 weeks max).

So does this means I only have to provide the police clearance where I live now? I've never been to my home country since I left, no more reason for me to go back as my immediate family are all base outside now. I still choose to be a citizen of that country tho.

Yes, that means you only have to submit the certificate for where you live now. However, keep in mind they might request a certificate for your home country at a later date.
