POLICE CLEARANCE UPDATED CHECK LIST 2018.

Hi everyone
I've submitted my In Canada spouse application twice before in November (returned because we forgot to sign a page) and again in January (missing bc for my daughter).
There is no communication between me and my ex spouse who has main custody of the children hence it's really tedious to try get documents etc.
I have only managed to do far because my eldest son (23yo) tries and help in his limited capacity as the relationship between me and ex spouse is still very sensitive and volatile.
With the new updated checklist (feb 2018) which now requires police clearance upfront for myself and dependent children (non accompanying) with the application I am at a loss.

I have my status as visitor extended till may 2019. My question is with the police clearance, I've lived in Qatar and the embassy has told me that their police clearance takes up to 6 months! Plus singapore as my other country, the Singapore police clearance requires a formal request letter from CIC. So what do I do now? Can I submit my application with an explanation letter about this or will it just be a waste of time? I still need the request letter from cic to process the Singapore police clearance. Ugh so frustrating. please can anyone advise? Thank you in advance.

Sorry about your sensitive and volatile relationship with your ex-spouse.......i can understand how frustrating it is as you may need your dependant docs like Police Cert.

In the new sponsorship checklist, applicants are required to submit Police Certificate as at time of submitting sponsorship application and its good you have become aware of this new requirement.

I will suggest you call IRCC to ask if they could accept your sponsorship application while you wait to receive police cert from Qatar in 6 months as you do not want further delay in submitting your application and will send the cert as soon as you receive it.

Alternatively, you could send your application package with a note included promising to provide the Police Certificate later with the hope that IRCC will accept......although i doubt......but its just a suggestion.

Good your visa extension is until May 2019 which enables you to have Status until 2019, so you could always apply for "INLAND" sponsorship given the likelihood you need to include the Qatar Police Certificate with your sponsorship application package.

You are not required right away to submit Police Certificate from Singapore but from Qatar.

Hi! I have a question.
I am going to send our spousal application - outland (my husband is a citizen in Philippines) at the end of June. I am a permanent resident. We are just a little bit confused with the Police Clearance requirement. Are we going to send the non accompanying family members like his father, mother and his brother? I am just going to sponsor my husband and it says there that I should submit a police clearance for 18 yrs and above family member. Should I include them? Thank you in advance for the reply! And I hope everything will turn out well to all of us in regards to this application.

An applicant’s closest relatives, in the context of an application to IRCC. It is defined as a spouse or common-law partner, dependent children, and their dependent children

.....does not include your husband family members like his father, mother, sisters and his brothers
