Hi,

Does anyone know how long you receive your police clearance after you go request it? And how long it takes to get it translated?

Thanks!

If you specify what country you are requesting it from, you might get some specific answers.

Hi, it depends country to country.
I had applied in Dubai, and got it within a week. It was already issued in English, so no translation was required.
Just remember that the validity is of only 3 months.

Cheers...

It will be in Japan. The validity is 3 months so that means I have to send in the application within that 3 months correct? Because the medical is valid for 1 year but if the person being sponsored doesnt receive the visa within that year he/she must have the medical done again....as I am told?

Hi,

You should apply to the Prefectural Police Headquarters Identification Section representing your place of residence. To apply, you will need a letter of request from the Canadian visa office (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/pub/japan_police_certif.pdf or if your application was submitted to the Canadian Visa Office in Tokyo you can also obtain this letter directly from them), and a set of fingerprints. Residents of Tokyo must contact the Police Certificate Sub-section at the address below for more instructions on the documents required to apply:

The Police Certificate Sub-section
1st Foreign Affairs Section
Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department
2-1-1, Kasumigaseki
Chiyoda-Ku
Tokyo, Japan

Yes, the validity of the medicals is one year. So if you are not issued visa within that time frame, you will have to go for re medicals.

Cheers,,,

SATDXB,

You said 'or if your application was submitted to the Canadian Visa Office in Tokyo'.... aren't we supposed to send the police clearance with our application not after?

The PCC goes with the application if this is a spousal application, yes.

Everyone in the family means everyone over 18 who is part of the application, so if this is spousal, again that means wife and kids over 18.
