I already submitted a request to FBI, but I need some guidance. I am 55 years old now and am a US citizen (used to be a Japanese citizen). I moved to US when I was 22. I wonder if I need police clearance from Japan also?

I believe you're supposed to get Background clearances from every country you've lived in for at least 6 months since you're 18th birthday

Yes that is correct you need a police clearance from every country you have lived in for over 6 months since you were 18 years old. Just found this out today actually. My husband is Mexican but lived in the USA 11 years ago, so he needs an FBI check.

Thanks guys. They said it would take 2-3 months to get the police check back for Japan (FBI takes about the same amount of time but I already submitted it a few weeks ago for that), so I guess that's that. Total bummer, but I gotta do what I gotta do.
