I am getting ready to submit my OUTLAND application for spousal sponsorship.

I have been living in Canada since 2005 and have never exited Canada.

Do I still need to submit a police record clearance?

Thanks

You need to submit police clearances for all countries you have lived in for more than six months since the age of 18 (excluding Canada - you don't need to provide a PCC for Canada). If you moved to Canada before you turned 18, I would recommend that you still include a PCC for your home country. CIC will probably ask for it.

It's weird because some CIC docs/pages say over 18/in the last 10 years and some just say since 18 for police checks.

Be careful what advice you receive from friends/relatives/co-workers. Many of my husband's coworkers and family have given us "advice" that ended up being very wrong.

If you have lived in a country for at least 6 months since turning 18, then you need a police clearance from that country.

Don't listen to your friends - they don't know what they are talking about and will delay the processing of your file.

I'd play it safe and forget the past 10 years bit, just go with if over 18 for at least 6 months. Classic CIC inconsistent information can be seen in these two examples:

PCC needed if 6 months, over 18, in past 10 yrs: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/PC_LetterB_e.pdf

PCC needed if 6 months, over 18: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/PC_LetterA_e.pdf

I've seen the same varying info on this topic at other places on the CIC website.

Are you the Sponsor or the applicant? If you lived in Canada for 10 years, you must be under a certain immigration scheme. Couldn't you qualify as PR on your own?
